The most expensive gear is usually proud in omitting everything deemed unnecessary for SQ reasons. Pure and basic. The less... the more... the better.
Emotiva wants to be recognized as the "Low price ... high SQ" label, not mainstream, i suspect.
I don't know, if there are even technical reasons for omitting those features (lack of memory space within flash ROM etc.)
Technical reasons: No.
Since the volume control is digital controlled analog and not motorized.
It is harder to remember the last volume level than to start with a preset value.
When you turn on the Marantz I see it go to the last volumne number, then change to the power on number.
The Volume setting choices are: Last or a number. Duck soup.
Max volume is equally trivial.
Memory used; 2 bytes for the values plus the menu text.
For me, these are must have. Audyssey is not something I care about.
I would love to see Emotiva have the giant killer they are looking for.
But, there are feature and then there are features.
From the outside, Emotiva looks like a personallity driver company.
If the big guy doesn't want it, it aint happending. Logic be damned.
