HTD Level 3 vs. HSU Speakers -- Any Input or further suggestions?

Hi All:

Did a lot of reading over the last several months and thought I found the speakers of my dreams ...then I heard them and realized I didn't like the sound.

My purpose for these speakers are 95% Home Theater.

So after reading and reading yet again I have seen a few suggestions that I try HTD Level 3 ... When researching Subs I came across the HSU speakers.

My room is small / mid size at 22' L x 14'W. My price range is about 2k for speakers. Sub and receiver are outside of the 2k budget... so the 2k is all for the speakers.

I currently use the Fluance SV 5.0 setup. I found them lacking... So any help or suggestions are welcomed!

I would consider the ascend acoustic cnt340 and center...
Or the EMPtek large towers and center...
Other options...htd, hsu, pub, kef, focal....

Sorry, edit... confused your post and other I have read this morning. I have not heard either the htd level 3 or the hsu speakers. The hsu subs are outstanding, however!

I love my EMP setup so far. It's been incredible for music (+/- 2db, good off-axis response, perfect midrange and lower treble, etc) AND movies. They look great and can get extremely loud and clear without breaking a sweat. Imaging is great and I've found the depth of my soundstage is very good for this price range.

The HTD speakers are supposedly also a great buy in this range. HTD can be a little more if you can wait until an EMP sale (the Black Friday sale was CRAZY)

I haven't heard the HTD, but I just bought the hsu 5.0 set and they sound great. At least compared to the small athenas I was using.

I just eliminated the HSU from my list for the following reasons:

They are all bookshelf...I really want something big for my front stage which means a very large center and some nice floor standers.

From what I read the HSU are not wall mountable. If I did go for Bookshelf all way around I would have to mount them.

I seem to be zoning in on ID speakers for value to sound ratio.

You can mount speakers with something like the PinPoint mount

I installed my HSU speakers using the same pinpoint mounts this afternoon. They are great so far, look nice and seem very sturdy. The cushioned side clamps are a good feature, I didn't want to mark up the speaker with double sided tape or velcro.
