My HDMI came unplugged. I went to plug it in and somehow it got caught on the gold connectors and bent 3 of them to the point I can't unbend them and plug in the HDMI. I don't want to get a new console yet if the new ones are coming out in a year or so. Any rate, I was thinking of just switching to component connector (going and buying a component connector with the PS3 end). My PS3 is an original 20 GIG model, bought it about half a year after they launched.
If I go with the component, will I be loosing anything in quality/capabilities from the HDMI? The site says the component will still do 1080P. Trying to determine if I should just get the cable or pay to have it fixed so I can use HDMI again? I have a pretty good top of the line Plasma TV and don't want to loose any features/picture quality because we watch a LOT of Blu-ray movies on it.
I read that newer models will not display Blu-ray at 1080p through component but mine is pretty old so I assume I am safe?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
