Which tweet your center using? Fountek? Raal?

Interesting Richard... So I think Dennis uses the Fountek Neo3 Ribbon and the RAAL 10D. Now I know Dennis (please understand I am paraphrasing him without his technical understanding of speaker building) uses the Fountek in his centers even with the Raal as it matches enough and the Raal would be a tad bit wasted in a center.

I think Dennis gave up on the Phil 1 because everyone wanted a Raal but it seems as if the Neo3 are close enough alike that some of the best ears anywhere think they match well enough... Things that make you go..humm.

Some people like to go with the best. Many designer had said that the raal has the most natural HF, so people go with that. If you are movie guy you may want to consider the rasl 70-10 with a small midrange. Rick salk center comes to mind.

Agreed... Another thing that shocked Dennis was how many Phil 3's he sells. He has stated many times that with a Sub a Phil 3 is not necessary but for the cost difference everyone wants top of the line even if they don't "need" it.

For my surrounds I went with Ascends CMD 170SE. It arrives tomorrow. Will have to see how they integrate. If that does not work I will look at some surrounds that use the foundtek ... Probably Dennis's Phil Monitor...but will have to see.

Thus all my questions about center and surrounds. Trying to be frugal..but not too frugal. biggrin.gif
