I am in the process of finding out what went wrong and the cost of repairs of my 42" Panasonic TC-P42G10 Plasma when the screen went black.
It was manufactured in March 2009.
I decided to look for new 42" HDTVs If the cost of repair is too much.
What I noticed is that it seems there are relatively few 42" plasmas available compared to LCD and LED-LCD screens.
Why has there been a shift in screen options...
are LCDs better than plasmas?
have plasma screens become too expensive to manufacture?
do LCDs have significant advantages over plasma screens?
Are LCDs more reliable?
The only affordable 42" HDTVs that I found are the Panasonic VIERA TC-L42E50 (an IPS LED-LCD) and the Sony BRAVIA KDL42EX440. Both at about $550.
