Looking for Home Theater Under $1000

Hi,

I'm looking for Home Theater under $1000.

So far, I liked the Onkyo HT-S9400THX 7.1-Channel Network A/V Receiver/Speakers (HTiB) which have good (mostly positive) reviews on Amazon.

It would be nice if someone can suggest me good Home theater HTiB or Separate. I currently own Logitech Z906 THX and planning to replace it.

Primary use for home theater with my TV is to:
- Watch movie - 40%
- Play Games - 30%
- Play Music - 30%

Thanks in advance.smile.gif

Size of room, please?

Also, any space, color or other considerations?

Thanks.

According to the product page, the receiver that comes with that Onkyo HTiB has Audyssey 2EQ. I'd consider buying an AVR with MultEQ (at a minimum) + a pair of good bookshelf speakers + a good sub. Later, add a CC speaker, and then surrounds.

Options include:
- Denon AVR-1613 (although I see that the Denon AVR-591 refurb is available at us.denon.com for $200)
- Polk Monitor 40 or 45B from Amazon.com (~$200/pr.)
- SVS PB-1000 subwoofer ($499, shipped)

A pair of P163's for the front, a PC251 for the center and a pair of P153's for the rear.

That leaves about $300 for a receiver.

Various Denon,Yamaha, Onkyo and Pioneer receivers would fit your price point.

Here is a Onkyo at BB:

You might want to check around for open box units, refurbs, last year's closeouts and sales from companies like Newegg.

I have a 11 X17 room with about the same size ceilings and I have a very similar system that fills that quite well.

$1000 won't buy you the world's best system but it will get you a system magnitudes above a HTIB.

I am sure there are others good recommendations for your price point.

Have fun, you will be surprised what a difference it makes.

I just picked up a set of pioneer SP-FS52 towers and they are really nice. Audioholics recommends the pioneer speakers as the best choice for those with a budget under $2500 . If you wait for deals amazon sells them at a nice price.

Speakers and receiver are amazon sale prices which come and go.

2- SP-FS52 - $200
1- SP-C22 - $70
2- SP-BS22 - $100

Denon 1613 - $300
HSU STF-2 - $350 regular price

So it would be ~1020 if you waited till things go on sale.

I second this.

If you have around $1000 to spend, you can go full blown HT rather than a HTiB. It's not too expensive if you shop smart. And a full blown HT setup even with modest speakers will blow away 98% of the HTiB's out there (with a few exceptions of course)

As suggested, I would go with a Denon or Onkyo reciever that has at the very minimum, Auddessey MultEQ. And get a decent entry level sub like the BIC F-12. After that, figure out which speakers will do you. If you want 5 speakers, you are going to have to go a bit cheaper like Polk or something along those lines. Or if you can live with 2.1 or 3.1 for the moment, you might be able to step up to something better. Shop around is the key. Once you've found your price range, it gets easier from there.

Sorry for the old bump but where do you find the infinity primus in pairs and so cheap? I priced all those speakers and is about 950 without the receiver and they sell a piece

This maybe a duplicate post but oh well. Sorry for a old bump but where do you get those infinity primus speakers in a pair and at that price? I priced from that site and came up with ~1000 without the receiver
