LCD or Plasma?

With the steady improvement in LCD's, can we justify plasma TVs? I have a 4 year old Panasonic 50" plasma that has performed flawlesly. But I'm starting to get the itch. These new LCDs I just saw at BB are much lighter and dont emit near as much heat. And how important is 600Hertz in these LCDs?

600Hz?

Quite! If you watch fast action sports you wouldn't be happy with where LCD is right now. Unless your TV is crappy or you want to go for a different size, upgrading won't get you much

One the best rated tvs right now is the Panasonic VT50

Both technologies have their pros and cons so it depends on where you want to compromise. 120Hz, 240Hz, etc are all multiples of 60Hz and every tv mfr handles that motion interpolation a little differently. Some are better at it than others. A high Hz rating doesn't guarantee absolutely smooth performance on fast action scenes (eg. sports). Panasonic does indeed make a fine plasma (they bought the Kuro patents from Pioneer) but banding can be an issue on some of their panels.
