AV Receiver Recommendation

I finished my new living room build with a Denon 2112CI with the MartinLogan MLT-2 which replaced a Polk 5.1 system (Polk Audio 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker System (RM6000) and Polk Audio 8" 50W subwoofer (C2-6203)). I wanted to re-purpose the Polk 5.1 system in the basement but need a receiver. I was hoping for a nice bang-for-buck 5.1 receiver but not sure. I been checking slickdeals but just missed the Onkyo TX-NR509 for $127 shipped.

If you like the 2112CI with Audyssey, then try to get a Denon 1612 on clearance.

I was hoping you'd respond. I got the 2112CI based on a few of your threads and it is outstanding. HUGE upgrade. I am not sure if it's the Denon and/or Audyssey but it's a huge difference in sound quality. The local Best Buy has the Marantz 1402 for $150 on clearance brand new. No AV and few imputs but it is Marantz. Should I even consider an Onyko if I could find budget somewhere?

Nah .. I'd get the 1402 as it has the higher version of Audyssey MultEQ over just 2EQ on the Onkyo models.

Marantz 1402 would be perfect for your Polk 5.1 setup. $150 is a good price too!

Yea, I thought so too. I feel like I am going to miss networking. I love the airplay.

You can add an Apple TV for $99 which has the added capability of streaming video in addition to audio.

I already have a HTPC as I have a centralized NAS with my blu-ray movies/mp3/media/etc. But, this will add the airplay that I enjoy. It won't allow updates from manufacturer but it should be stable.

Best Buy has the HK 1700 for $199. How does this compare to the Marantz 14XX or Denon 16XX?
