IR extender question...please help

I was wondering if you guys could help me out. Let me give you a run down of what I am trying to accomplish and hopefully you guys can give me some advice.

Up stair I am setting up a theater. I have moved the following to a closet directly behind the theater room. I have the following components:

AVR
Xbox 360 - I use this to watch live tv and also netflix
BD Player

The 3 components are all controlled via a Harmony One controller. I was looking at the powermid remote control extender but one thing that is worrying me. Down stairs I also have a xbox 360 (separate remote control) that is used for watching live TV. My worry here is that the powermid remote control extender may send the signal down stairs. Will this be a problem? If so is there another solution I could look into? I have no issues running cables between the theater room and the closet.

The Powermid is a send / receive unit - you'll only get IR at the location where you place the receiving unit. If you can easily run a wire, Monoprice has an inexpensive wired-IR repeating kit that will be more reliable than the old Powermids...

This is the dual-band one that is needed for some devices (mostly set-top boxes, but also some Denon AVRs):

Since it's currently out of stock, you'll probably be fine with the cheaper one anyway:

You can extend the reach of the receiver eye with a stereo 3.5mm headphone extension cable.
