I like Klllswitch Engage's first album Alive or Just Breathing with their first lead singer. I liked the next album a lot too when it first came out, but I got sick of it quickly - that didn't happen with the first album.

Alive or Just breathing is actually their 2nd album, but I agree that the one after it was not as good. the 4th One was much better (as Daylight Dies)

also they have a new one coming out in April with the original singer

Love this song. It's the longest song that I've heard of clocking in at over an hour. You have to be in the right mood to listen to the whole thing but it's great when you are.

The whole album is just one song.

Green Carnation - album and song is called Light of Day, Day of Darkness

Link is just the song obvioulsy, they didn't make a video for a 1 hour song. biggrin.gif

No growls, great dark/somber tone - love that.

gave most of that a listen yesterday Carp. Not bad, not bad at all

I ended up chopping it up into tracks and cutting out the section with the saxophone and the soprano singer. I wish some of the bands other albums had a similar sound, but this album is one of a kind.

Don't know if they were already mentioned in this thread, but have you guys heard of Raised Fist and Refused? Both Swedish. Raised First's newer albums have an awesome sound to them, especially the guitars.

I hadn’t heard these guys before and someone posted about them on another forums.
Impressive guitar work.

I ran across an album that really impressed me last night. I can't remember the last time I listened to an album that I like this much the very first time I listened to it but it's been a long time.

I'd heard songs from the band Omnium Gatherum before - and maybe they have been discussed on this thread I can't remember. However, I hadn't heard any songs of the album called The Red Shift. Wow. I don't know if I was just in the right mood, or if it's the sound of this album on my speakers or what but I really was blown away.

They sound very much like Insomnium, but I never had this good of an impression from the first listen to any of the Insomnium albums, even though I really love Since the Day it all Came Down.

Anyway, it could have been one of those perfect storm moments or something so maybe I won't be as impressed the next time I hear the album but man I was cranking it last night, and Insomnium has stood the test of time with me who knows with these guys. Towards the end of the album I realized I had been creeping up the volume over and over and I checked my radio shack meter and it was solid between 100-105 db's!! Didn't sound that loud though, just sounded awesome.

If you guys have spotify check it out.

I know nothing about this band, so they could worship Satan's penis for all I know, but they sure can play. Thanks for the video!

That was impressive, I really liked it. Favorite sections were death and folk, but most were pretty good.

Recommendation of the day:

Katatonia - A premonition

Starts a little slow and repetitive but it's almost like I'm in a hypnotic state by the end of the song, very cool

Use the Video icon/button. It looks like a film strip and is five from the right (starting with "plain text").

It should work like this:

The song that started it all for me Iron Maiden's The Number of the Beast. 12 years old. Became obsessed with Metal.

Gotta love that Testament seems to keep getting heavier.

Here's Nightwish's new fill in singer, Floor Jansen. I loved her in After Forever, first album especially - Prison of Desire.

Other videos she's pitch perfect, this one a little flat in spots but her headbanging more than makes up for it. A girl headbanging does it for me. smile.gif If you go full screen switch to HD.

wow, she can really belt them out. I LOVE metal/goth chicks.

case in point...

Straight Line Stitch. Alexis Brown = hot as hell...

Arch Enemy. Angela Gossow. When she tries to clean up, jesus shes hot.

And then there is always Ms. Otep.

Thanks Ratm, love Arch Enemy!!! The first vid I hadn't heard of that band. The chick from Otep has always scared me.... in a good way. Some of their political stuff makes me laugh - not that I would say here if I agree or disagree that's not the point, it just always seems silly to me when bands go political. Oh, yes Dave Mustaine, tell me more - you have the world all figured out oh wise one, haha. Not that I don't love old Megadeth, don't get me wrong here people.

Nuance, you inspired me to "dust off" the Reroute to Remain album, currently listening from start to finish. I really like In Flames up to an including that album, I know some of their fans consider that their sellout album and I know it's a change but I have always liked it a lot. I did lose interest after that album, the stuff I've heard hasn't done it for me.

Man I hope she'll stay with them!!! She's the only one who can fill Tarja's shoes imo. I have never been a big fan of After Forever but Floor Jansen has an amazing voice, one that could fit perfectly with Nightwish.
