I completely agree man! You would be 150% right to feel this way if this happens once this kit comes out. I have a good feeling though that we will see some form of improvement with it

1.3 GHz Quad Core Chip set, they are taking the existing dual core in the tv and combining with the evolution kit to make it a 1.3GHz QUAD CORE.

If you would had read the very 1st post of this thread you would already know the answer....lol... wink.gif

No need to be passive aggressive. Plus I think you are wrong, the evo kit itself is a quad core, and it is my impression that it bypasses your current dual core which is then made inactive. I do not believe they work in synergy.

I have seen a video where it does say that the new Evo kit completely by passes the dual core as well. I think that's what that other member was trying to say before Endeaverman went ape .. On him. Who knows.. We won't know these exact details until we have one probably. You can't even go by everything Samsung says either

Number 1... I wasnt being passive agressive brotha...chilax...it was a joke...lighten up...i dont put rumors in here..i always back up with solid sources... You too should have read all the sources i supplied in the very 1st post in this thread... Theres an article in there by cnet...read it all the info and sources first before calling someone passive aggressive...lol...no harm no foul....

I'm really more interested to see if this kit will actually enable me to play Xbox games and the like on something other than the watered down "Game Mode." Games look fantastic on my ES8000, but half a split second of lag, and playing things like Forza, its really tough to accommodate. I can switch to game mode, which makes the image a bit "flatter" and less vibrant but no lag at all. Would like to see if this will solve my woes finally or no. Any news, knowledge, thoughts, ideas?

I doubt the kit will do anything to improve gaming though I know exactly what you mean... I'm constantly switching game mode on and off... at frist I thought it made little difference but one day I was playing DOA 5 and the difference is quite noticeable.

The biggest piss off for me is that I paid more money for a TV with more "features" but I have to turn off everything in order to play a game normally.... what a joke.

This. However, I got my hopes up when I saw improved GPU, so I have my fingers crossed. This will be the ONLY reason I pick one of these kits up.

Does anyone know if the "banding" and, to a lesser extent the "flashlighting", issues with the 65 and, in some cases the 60, are caused by hardware or software? Moreover, is there anyway the EVO kit would be able to correct the issues?

as of right now, nobody knows...but from what we do know the evo kit will just give us a newer faster smart hub interface.... I think we are all in a agreement here that the evo kit will do jack for picture quality, flashing, banding...etc....

you can hope and cross your fingers all you want...but I wouldn;t hold my breath.... I leave my expectations very low that way I won't be disappointed....it's a good life lesson... wink.gif

There's been a lot of speculation regarding the incomming Evolution Kit and exactly what it's going to do.
According to an email I received this morning from Samsung, it will definately boost the picture processing of the 8000 series along with the new SH, online HD codecs and advanced motion/speech control features that have already been talked about.

So it will indeed bring last year's models up to the "F" series specification.
Straight from the horse's mouth so to speak :-)

The big question remains if the EVO kit will do anything regarding the systemic banding and flashlighting issues. I'm wondering if there is a means to query Samsung directly on the effectiveness of the kit in these regards.

I didn't think this through. I believe I have now answered my own question. The EVO will very likely NOT provide a fix to the banding and flashlighting issues because if it had a fix Samsung would obviously include the fix in its updates as a freebie - rather than forcing all 8000 customers to have to purchase the kit.

Banding and flashlighting are hardware issue with regard to the panel itself. No software and or processing upgrade will fix that issue.

no offense, I dont know who "TonyaNorway", no disrespect or offense to him, but We all in here need FACTs in solid stone and concrete multiple sources. A friend of a friend told me this and that does not cut it around here...

Just because he has a contact at samsung doesn't mean jack or didly squat...we need something more official from samsung..not more rumors or speculation...

Fair enough, it's all guesswork at this stage which I think is out of order on Samsung's part, we've known about this kit for well over a year now it's about time they let us know what we're getting. I'd rather pay extra for a full upgrade to F8 spec than a couple of hundred just for smarthub and voice improvements

I am risking the wrath of the "thread starter," but here is some info from a reliable poster on the UK site:

"Ok guys, some official info for the more curious among you.

1) The final release version of EK will be a few cm thick and is designed to fit with wall mounted setups.
What was shown at CES was an engineering prototype.

2) The new "F" series will use the same LCD panels as the current "E" series.

3) An ES8000 + EK = F8000.

4) There's a big screen OLED in the works coming after the F series"

So the budget conscious should maybe get an ES7100 or ES8000 at a good clearance price rather than wait on the F series at a much higher price point? Anotherwords, no revolutionary changes after adding the Ev Kit?
