I have an ue55es8000 and bought the evolution kit.

I have updated to the latest firmware version.

Connected it and was not detected at first, then I tried a couple of times till once time i got a green screen. I then managed to get it to be detected correctly.

The problem that I have is that after the 100% it says "No usb devices connected found"...
Any ideas?

I have tried disconnecting it and reconnecting it but no success.

Mine did that too. At least it is detecting it initially, that means you've almost got it. Just keep trying and you'll have it

I finally managed to get it working and upgraded successfully.

Here is what I did.

The connector on the TV side has two metal bars that slide when you push in the Evo Kit

In my case one of these metal bars got twisted and damaged. I switched the TV completely and made it straight again using a tweezers.

Once it was straight I pushed softly and gently the Evo kit and it got detected

My suggestion to anybody is to slide the Evo kit very gently and made sure not to twist the connector on the TV side.

Nope, waiting for replacement evo kit, hoping it's the kit and not the TV, but even if it's the TV it's still under warranty. Should have replacement next week, I'll report back with results.

I installed it right and my port isn't damaged or anything.

Hi !
anyone can please tell me if an Evo kit from the US will work on my model, I am from Israel and the model is - UA46ES7500

basically, can a US kit work on a european or australian TV, and vice versa ???

I tried a US kit on my TV and after the first progress bar it always tries to find a software upgrade and says-

"A Software upgrade is unavailable"

Any help would be greatly appreciated !!!

Thanks !

Is Allshare Cast built-in to the EK? (screen mirroring of Samsung smart phones. Not to be confused with Allshare Play).
There is no screen mirroring. For whatever reason, that is one of the features that is exclusive to the F Series.

If you're connecting via wireless, maybe switching to a wired ethernet connection could help.

The Smart View App works only after the kit is installed but not on a regular ES model. With it you can mirror what is on your tv screen onto your phone

I tried with both... nothing works...

the question is, can the US Kit actually work with my TV model and in my region...

I don't know for sure whether they are all interchangeable, but one of the first to report in this forum, installed a european kit (sent from Switzerland) in a North American set.
Good to know !

That gives me some hope !!!

I think the needed files are simply not available on the regional servers in my area...

Hopefully it will work in a few days, as the kit was announced in Israel yesterday...

Thanks for the info !

Smartview works on my regular UN60ES8000 with no EK.

I'm talking about mirroring what's on my phone onto the TV (as I'm able to do with a passive MHL cable).

Looks like I will go this route to get wireless screen mirroring:

That being said, I will be getting an EK this year or the next one, next year.

So I get that this thing's been out for a few weeks, and I've read a couple people's review on the ES8000 forum where I hang out. I get that the Smarthub interface is like the newer F8000 TV's and that it's cooler looking. And maybe the Netflix app will let you stream 3D (or not depending on what cable provider you have). I love the TV and I'm not Jonesing to spend $200 in this thing, but I am open to hearing any other people review theirs, and hearing whether they thought it was worth the money and why or why not. Thanks in advance.

Ok the reason I got the EK was I was itching for a new TV but I couldn't justify spending another 2500 to 3000 on a new f8500 when I just got my PN60E8000 just a little over a year ago actually last May. So I wanted to get the feeling of a new TV with spending less then two hundred and the EK Fit the bill. Picture quality has not improved blacks seem a little blacker. The smart hub is a nice addition very snappy web browser works great was able to watch maxgo.com workout an issue as I couldn't without the kit. Not sure what it will do with a LED TV but my plasma is working great with the EK.
I JUST want to mention the PQ ON MY PN60E8000 was already awesome and I didn't get the EK to improve it but I'm glad I got it
post #797 of 1474
Plus -- The new remote really works well and makes the browser actually functional. I'm very satisfied!!
what sucks is that Samsung won t confirm if these evo kits will continue for the 2012 models in this article :
http://www.trustedreviews.com/samsung-sek-1000-tv-evolution-kit_TV_review

by the time 2014 comes around & they have 2014 kits ready these things should be much cheaper since I doubt they'll be using a 6 or 8 core cpu.
anyhow, from what I can tell in a few reviews of these EVO kits they ARE a waste of $$ "IMHO"
1 other IMPORTANT thing to know is this EVO kit when & IF it dies can KILL ur TV set in the process ! ! !
Good luck current evil kit owners, you'll need it if & when ur warranty on TV is up & this kit craps out.

I am hoping projectors start coming in @ lower prices with 3D & HDMI 2.0.

That's a very favorable review. I may indulge myself here. The upgraded remote appeals to me. They noted picture enhancement of SD broadcasts via signal upgrades, and streaming content enhancement. I like that. The Smarthub change is cool too. What's the best price for these badboys now and where? I'm about ready to put my ES8000 back into action after our kitchen/LR remodel nears completion. This may be the icing on the cake!

Indeed, I found this little bit very interesting:

Picture Benefits
It’s not just your TV’s Smart features that benefit from the Evolution Kit, either. Shifting to the latest quad-core chipsets also improves your picture quality, especially when it comes to upscaled standard definition and streamed footage.

Noise is better handled, there’s more sharpness, and there’s more sophistication and nuancing in the colour handling. Even HD images look slightly better, especially when it comes to the handling of motion.
.

I saw that too. The key word is "slightly better" on the HD images. But streaming content and cable content is the same quality as streamed. And since the Evo Kit replaces/contains all of the chips for the TV maybe the upscaling is a different unit. Interesting.

Replacement Evo Kit worked, so the one I got was just bad.

I'm having issues with Skype after adding evo kit. I use ARC utilizing Anynet+. Before evo kit it all worked fine with sound coming out of the receiver. Since evokit now it switches the speakers setting to TV speakers when I start Skype, and existing Skype does not switch them back on - I have to manually change the settings back to Receiver output.

I do not have this issue with youtube or Netflix - the sound plays fine on receiver as expected.

Anyone else can check and confirm this?

Don't know the Skype issue. I just saw the picture of your screen with the old Evo kit. There's an identical picture on the Evo Kit forum from someone who didn't get their unit seated correctly, which I guess is a problem many people (including the reviewer linked here). They eventually got it to work. So yours may not have been a bad unit just a bad connection.

I tried to seat it and reaseat it many times, making sure the clips engage, etc over and over. Then the new unit worked on the very first try. It was def bad unit.

Also if you look at this video the guy's unit goes in smooth, zero resistance. In my TV I had to press pretty hard to get it in there, with both unites I tried.

Good morning all,

So a simple question here would be ... Does the extra beefy quad core processor help reduce input lag for gaming ? I'd really love to use my panel with the 600hz CMR options enabled , but the input lag really make it somewhat unplayable...

Here to hoping the evo kit reduces input lag and allows me to use all those fancy features wink.gif - Game mode works well , but i wanna use all the extra stuff as well ;(

Wondering if anyone in Canada has found a reasonably priced outlet to purchase the kit. I was thinking about ordering from NCIX but I'd rather have somewhere I could return in town if something went wrong.

Cheers

Yeah the video makes it look like he just plugged in a hairdryer to the wall. I read somewhere you plug in one end first then "swivel" the unit and press with your whole hand to seat the other side. Didn't look like that on that Video.

Regarding screen mirroring.... I have a UN46ES7500, and am able to use smart view to view tv on my Samsung tablet using my home network. Are you saying, if I install the Evo kit i will not have this ability/feature anymore? Being able to take tablet to view while shaving and catching up with news in the morning comes in very handy......
Thanks in advance for your reply!

I had a email from Samsung today which is interesting.
Particularly this sentence/section

Best in class picture quality
Experience increased picture quality and performance. Intelligent viewing optimises images so they appear crisp and clear, regardless of the source. The addition of Web Clear View allows you to see videos streaming from the web in a much higher quality definition.

this is the reason WHY I keep saying it's a waste of $$ cause we Canadians ALWAYS get screwed on pricing, just south of me near buffalo I can get this for 180 but NOOOOOooooo WAY can we get that pricing here, it's GOTTA BE a FIRM 299.99....@ 300$ I think it's a waste................@180, no so much a waste after reading the review I linked earlier.
PRICE is what's making me mad right now. Also don't forget that ppl on the net have had these evo kits fail & their TV's with it.
I think if the evo screws up your TV "EVEN" with your TV warranty expired they SHOULD replace it, but we all know that won't happen.
I SWEAR Mur.... some1 if this evo kills my tv.
