Do I need to put L brackets on both sides of the frame on a diy frame?

I am going to build my own screen using blacktop cloth stretched over at wooden frame. Just wondering if the brackets need to be put on both sides or is it okay to just have it on one side? I would perfer to put them on me on 1 side because I am going with a very thin border and I don't want the brackets to come in the way and take away from my screen size.

Cut triangular pieces of plywood (I used luan plywood, thinnest I could get) for braces instead. Take a square piece, 12 inch a side and cut it diagonally to make two triangle pieces. Repeat and you have the four braces. Glue + screw and you're done.

So, the glue goes between the plywood and the front of the frame? Do I need to glue the edges of the wood pieces too? (where 2 pieces of wood are touching each other)

Wow.

Nope....the Triangular Braces go across the "Back" of the Corners. When such larger, overlaying triangular wood braces are used, it can help a "one man team" get the edges alignedand laying flush to each other. But most importantly, those type of reinforced corners add considerable strength.

The only drawback is the "added thickness" a 1/2" piece of multi-layered (7 Ply) good quality Plywood adds I don't myself suggest using 1/4" Veneer-type Plywood ...but I prefer more strength.

Using "Wood Glue" is what you want to do, and Coarse Threaded Utility Screws (1-1/4" long) set flush into pre-drilled holes to prevent splitting of wood.

I know where they go...i was just confused because the instructions have screws and glue..just wondering where the glue goes...but I figured it out now.

Well awlrighty then. I do realize how so many different takes and suggestions can get confusing. That has been the bane of so very many DIY'ers having to read so much and try to absorb / sort through it all.

But take heart....there will always be someone available to try to set things straight.....and add to the confusion even more. tongue.gif
