It appears if you look at just the right angle - it looks like a dead pixel, but unlike the other two sets, this one seems okay from head-on - it only appears dead when seen from just a certain angle, so I worry that something may be wrong with it but I have no idea what. I'm leaning towards ignoring it but for this price I don't want to get stuck with something if it's going to be a bigger problem later on down the road.

My current 60F8000 and previous 65ES8000 had this same issue if it even is an issue. The outside strip of pixels on both sets seemed less defined or perhaps smaller then the rest of the picture. Is this just a side effect of edge lighting not properly illuminating the outer most pixels. Or is this a manufacturing issue? My old Sony XBR 3 had perfectly defined pixels edge to edge. But both of my Samsung sets seemed to show the same lack of definition alone the edge of the picture. Its weird.

This has been the case since the ES series last year - my F8000 has that too. The very outer edge strip of pixels all the way around looks partly dimmed - not as bright as the rest of the panel. Almost like a shadow all the way around. This was discussed a lot last year, also on the UK forum. I'm not sure if anybody ever figured out if it was a design flaw or what but since they did the same thing this year I guess it doesn't matter one way or the other since they don't plan to do anything about it. It's very weird I agree. I don't know what causes it.

I noticed this on the D, ES and F series.

Its because of the ultra-thin bezel's pressure on the LED pixels by the edges.

The thin bezel 60 inchers like the UN60F7100 or UN60ES8000 don't have it.

Interesting. Well at least now we know what causes it.

Hi Guys,

Some strange behaviour on my 55" F8000 of late.
Three times, the screen has started flickering at the top and bottom, whilst normal viewing regardless of source. When you switch the TV off and on, it disappears. Doesn't seem to happen every times, but once a every few days of viewing. The flickering extends about 2-3 inches from the edges. It does not appear on the left or the right. You can still see the picture below. No sound distortion.
Should I be panicking? TV's only 6 weeks old.

Thanks in advance.

No, don't panic.

Return or exchange it.

Hi,

I received my UN65F8000 on Saturday from BestBuy and so far I love it, I own a 65ES8000 too that I bought last year and I can tell you that their is a huge improvement on picture quality. I have no flashlight, cloudiness or uniformity to talk about and the cinema black work as advertise but I hate that it don't work yet on videos played using either Plex, Amazon, Vudu or movies play from a nas, basically the option is disable.

Have anyone of you know if Cinema Black will work if I play a movie via Playstation 3 source? I'm planning to buy a use PS3 from a friend and want to know if Cinema Black will work on that source.

Other than that I'm extremely happy with the F8000, not to mention that Samsung did an excellent job with the SmartHub UI.

I almost go with the plasma option but after reading that Image Retention still an issue even in the latest Samsung plasma, I decided to move forward with F8000 and I don't regret the decision :-).

Thanks in advance for any useful replies.

It won't work with the amazon app from the smarthub though.

Awesome, so I will play my NAS movies using the PS3 while Amazon, Netflix, Vudu and Plex SmartHub apps get updated by developers.

Thanks

Thanks
A friendly email to amazon and vudu helps as well. I also asked amazon to allow themselves to be included in the SmartHub movie searches.

The easiest solution would be to go with something like a Roku for all your streaming. Not only does it have way more apps than your TV, but they can all be used in conjunction with Cinema Black. smile.gif

I vote shut this thread down(my choice for this threads course smile.gif ) and let each model tv discuss their tv in their "official" threads...it is silly/redundant now to keep this one around.

Agreed. 2 threads on the same model is becoming difficult to keep up with. Let's keep the owner's thread.

Yeah, that is odd isn't it? I prefer not to use the Smart Hub for video streaming since I can't control the picture settings like I can when using the PS3 (my advanced and picture menu options are greyed out).

Hi, I've got old TV, and there is game mode for playing game. It can reduce video lag.

Well after 5 55f8000's I went back in to currys for another one. But buy accident they replaced it with the f8500 at first I thought justice had no problems with this tv at all the picture is awesome. Only thing is as currys have been excellent with customer service I felt I had to let them know. Funny thing is went down there explained what they had done and instead of paying the extra £500 they took a £100 quid of the set.

You cannot go wrong with that!

Hi, I'm new to these forums but I have an issue with my 55F8000.

I'm trying to do Screen Mirroring with my Galaxy Note II. When I launch the screen mirroring on the TV it asks me to connect a device, so I launch AllcastShare on my phone, select my TV and hit connect. My TV changes to saying "connecting to android(xx)" so it recognizes the device but nothing seems to happen, either my phone prompts that the connection failed or my phone reboots itself.

Any idea what's causing this?

Also, last night all 4 of my HDMI ports went down despite using them the day before, I did a factory reset and they seem to be working now, will be keeping an eye on this.

Edit: HDMI ports all dead again, it detects that the cable is connected but says "no signal", going to be returning this next week.... £2000, flagship TV and it breaks? what is wrong with Samsung?

Well I was happy with my set but after couple of weeks I notice a dead or stuck pixel :-(, called BestBuy and they replaced without problems Saturday, replacement TV have the same beautiful picture quality as the first set, so I was very happy. Unfortunately at night with dark room, my wife and I notice something very odd on the frame left bottom corner and across the bottom frame all the way to the frame right corner, we notice light bleeding out, which definitely is no suppose to be visible. This is not a flashlight effect issue, picture is perfect with no issues at all.

This light is coming from the frame, like during assembly the LED was not properly isolated or sandwich between the screen layers. Any one have something something like this before?

Take a look at the pics.

Looks like a manufacturing defect. I wouldn't go near that or try to pop it in place. Return it.

Hi ,

If I am seeing this right , the 1st 2 pic`s are from the back and the 3rd is from the front.

I have the 46" and there is a little bit of light with the connection cover off , however that looks way too extreme.

Sadly , it is a defect , there is now way light should be seen from the front , reflecting off of the chrome stand.

Best of luck , have BB send you another , very poor workmanship. Typical for Samsung with the F8000 series , very nasty tv`s , real buggers !

Later smile.gif

Tell BB to give you another , there have been a lot of things wrong with the F8000 , but that is a new one.

That is just plain bad build quality. frown.gif

Odd question, but has anyone heard of an UNxxF8000F version model of the new Sammy line? I was ordering online and placed an order for a UN65F8000. I get a call from their sales department about a newer model that has supposedly higher brightness, contrast and even 480hz, and the confirmation email I get listed this:

UN65F8000F Samsung 65" Class UN65F8000F (64.5" Diag.) 8000 Series LED TV W/Faroudja

I have not been able to find anything on this model number online. I have put a hold on my order, but I'm pretty sure this is a non-existent model. Figured I would give it one more shot with the expert AVS community, before I cancel the order.
An F8000 with Faroudja processing ?

Sounds great , I `m just not sure Samsung would spring for that , although the F8000 as had a rough start so I guess anything is possible.

480 Hz ???? , the current F8000 is software rated at 1200 Hz , as far as I know it would still be a 60 Hz panel.

240 / 480 / 9600 / 1200 , just numbers to make the set look better on paper.

I have an HD CB / Mac Mini / DVD / and PS3 , and they all show a connection of 60 Hz. all via HDMI.
Antenna input the same 60 Hz.

An F8000 brighter than it already is ??? , I hope they pack in sunglasses eek.gif , it is already a really bright panel.

Be sure to post if you go ahead with your order , thanks smile.gif

^^^^SCAM ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This scam has already been tried on Sharp sets by an unscrupulous E-tailer there's a thread about it.

Do Not Fall for this.

Pretty sure the f8000 uses a 240hz panel.
