Advice on an surround sound speaker upgrade

Thread Starter
Thank you for reading my post...my living room is 16 X 16 with an 8 foot ceiling...I would like recommendations on how to improve its home theater experience. I use this room primarily for watching tv and movies.. This is my current setup:

Panasonic TC P50GT30 plasma
Yamaha RX-V671 Receiver
Polk Sat RM2650 Speakers - center, fronts and rears
Polk PSW250 Sub

I bought the Polk speakers as a box set almost 10 years ago.. Any suggestions on better speakers, sub, etc. that would be a nice upgrade? My budget is under 1K....I'm happy with the tv and receiver..just upgraded these components last year...I'm open to another box set...or buying each speaker individually...just want everything to compliment each other and take things to the next level..how about a grade for what I already have...thank you..
