5.0 suggestions for small room. $1200 budget

Thread Starter
Looking for a suggestions for a good small system to put in an upstairs "attic" room. It's a small room, about 10' x 14'. Front speakers and TV would be placed along the longer of the room, meaning I will be sitting very close to the front LCRs.

I would like a nice sounding system because my big family room with my "main" system doesn't have the layout for a true 5.1 setup. TV has to go in the corner b/c of the damn fire place....ugh (gonna get rid of that thing one day. Don't need it in California).

Budget is up to $1200 for 5 speakers. I don't have any preference for floor standing or bookshelves. (Already have a Martin Logan 12" sub I'm going to use). Would appreciate any suggestions.

3 pair of Focal 705V, and use 1 each as a center channel - it is worth a spare

Okay, my recommendations

Ascend acoustic cmt340-L/C/R fir about 900 shipped, and cmt170 fir rear (recently 300/pr). Heard these a lot and really nice, balanced speaker! Just a little over budget.

EMPtek e5tis, 500/ pr, the center 300 and Emps or whatever as rears! Very good front stage...the EMPs look and sound great and really excell in HT!
