And you're this know how?? Did you happen to speak with Robert in the last few hours? Or we're you at the shoot out last year and you just so happened to remember this? Or better yet, are you related to him, do you work for him, or perhaps you are actually him? What are the odds of that???

And using the word "slander" seems kind of a strong word for someone who isn't involved in the company..... unless of course you are??? Hmmmmmmm

And to schnura,

I just happened to read what you said and all you seem to talk about is the shout out. And why is it that when I do a search for your name and posts, all you seem to talk about is the shootout or products robert is promoting?? Boy that seems pretty biased to me! Lol.

I've heard many things behind the scenes from credible sources that the shootout is not all that's its cracked up to be. I have nothing against the shootout or Robert but lets be realistic.

Cell Light 10 was the max on the older D series.

The E series went up to 20. I use 11 for dark room viewing. 15 or so for day conditions.

I have the D series and the max is 20 also. It was always recommended to use cell light 20.

So what does the F8500 use 1-10 or 1-20???
If 1-20 and these photos were shot with it set at 10 I would say this is one bright plasma tv.. cool.gif
post #699 of 1868
go back n crank it up to eleven, no 20. See it if explodes :-) It would be cool to see photos of this screen with cell light 10 compared to vt50 and then cell light 20.

It would appear so, but we'll have to see how much brightness is usable before clipping occurs.

Ill be back in the store on Saturday with my pro-settings. Will report and take more pictures. I think the range was 0-20, but will confirm on Saturday. Is there anything else folks would like me to do while I am messing around on Saturday?

Does anyone know if this TV comes pre-calibrated? I know the ZT is already factory-calibrated. I hope the same for this TV.

Also is there an analog in for the DVI port and is there an analog audio out? I still have some old equipment I want to use, which it's looking to be this won't support sadly.

Does libel suite you better?

A simple search would answer all your questions. You do know how, yes? You've obviously never even watched the shootout. rolleyes.gif

BTW, you never know who you're talking to or what they do for a living. I don't work in the electronics industry, I live nowhere near Robert and we've never talked in person either. cool.gif

Sure it does, look at the middle-lower left of this pic for the Component Video/Analog Audio input connections (colors - yellow, white, red, green, cyan & magenta):

Ah you are correct, I belive those are the only connections available though, so depending on what the person i was replying to (got a few posts inbetween us) really needs. From them this may not work with thier equipment....

Seeing the back plate from the images above -

It certainly looks like it's very well built/engineered

I hope I didn't miss this part of the discussion, but is the stand removable? If not, that is certainly a deal breaker for me, and I'd imagine many others.

I may be wrong but I REALLY don't see any manufacturers these days making big thin flat panels with non-removable stands, especially when they haven't in the past.

Yes the stand is removable and the vesa mount on the back of it has 4 little caps that pop out to wall mount it. I talked to robert today at V.E. about the tv.

Dont exactly know waht you mean by pre-calibrated, but I can tell you that each of the four pre-set picture modes have very different individual settings. Clearly the Movie Mode is the best out of box pre-set, with Dynamic far and away being the worst.

If you double click on the picture you can see a close up of all the inputs and outputs as they are marked. I looked to see if there were any other inputs on the TV, and besides the power plug input that is located in the middle/right side of the TV, I did not see any other inputs besides what is in the picture I took.
