I watched a Netflix streaming movie on my PS3 for the first time, and every so often, maybe 5 to 10 min intervals, the video signal would be lost, the screen flash bright static for a second, then return. A couple of times the Acer lost the video connection altogether, which took a few seconds to correct. No problems with my Verizon Fios, haven't tried a dvd. The PS3 gui is stable (and looks great!). My setup goes PS3 > HDMI > Monoprice 1x4 switch > Monoprice 34' HDMI to DVI cable > Monoprice DVI to HDMI adapter > 3' HDMI cable > Acer.

Never had this problem with my Barco 808 (which was modified for 1080p), tho the DVI went straight in, no adapter.

That 3' hdmi cable needs to be the same gauge as the 35' cable.

If you do a search on avsforum you will see that people using hdmi switches have a lot of problems with the switches. For short runs to a TV they are normally fine but when dealing with a projector or distant TV they are problematic. In your case the problem is probably the gauge wire of that 3' cable. Good luck.

At least you have the projector. Amazon still hasn't shipped mine (ordered on April 12th). They show it will be delivered by this Fri. but not looking good.
Update: Just talked with another Amazon rep who told me it will be delivered by tomorrow (5/17). It still hasn't shipped so that's going to be a neat trick if it shows up.

Ditto. Ordered mine May 5 - estimated shipping date is May 21 - 24.
Beachaudio (thru amazon) currently has stock but at around $50 more than what I originally paid for.

Ordered mine through newegg. Should be here tomorrow. This is my first projector. So can't wait to see how a home theater projector setup is.

please post your calibration settings after calibration. Saves everybody time and a little money.

We all have different set ups so that's not going to help, I hope I receive it today. I know that turning brilliantcolor OFF makes everything 100 times better, and so does turning dynamic blacks ON.

I have tried different calibration settings for my other TVs be LED or plasma and they all look dull and terrible so I'm not even gonna bother.

We know we all have different setups but if what you post doesn't look right all we need to do it reset. It is just a guideline and better than hit or miss when no one wants to share info.

Same here. I feel turning BrilliantColor OFF makes colors much better, atleast for nighttime viewing. Somehow I didn't like dynamic blacks ON. It whitens the entire image and actually decreases the contrast.

Exactly. Last time I did this on LCD TV, I puked at the image....was wondering if that's what video purists really crave for and quickly adjust the colors back up to what our eyes like. So, I am not bothered either too much about calibrating, although it would be interesting to see how calibrated image looks vs. what our eyes like.

Well it makes the colors "pop" more with dymanic blacks in my opinion! and I have double checked while doing the calibration that it does not affect whites not blacks!

Here are some pictures after an hour of calibrating, they do no justice to the image in person but I am 100% happy with the result! They were taken with the crappy iphone 4 camera

In my experience calibration disks aren't really that helpful for adjusting color but are great for properly adjusting gamma, brightness and contrast. Brilliant color on with white peaking set to minimum provides the best picture in my opinion. I also like dynamic black. I believe dynamic black has to be enabled for you to get the full 7000 hr lamp life on eco.

I would suggest not messing with the advanced color section unless you write down the beginning settings.

Cancelled amazon order. Pulled the trigger with the newegg 630 promo. Thanks for the heads-up!
Well that's great I bought it on Tuesday for $799 and two days later it drops $100...

I just bought this earlier with the NewEgg deal, pulled the trigger on the spur of the moment due to the unbelievable cost. However, after searching around for some additional information on this projector (I was planning on the BenQ 1070 before this) I saw something that I'm quite concerned by - the 3d is supposed to just be at 96hz refresh, not the 120hz that seems standard. My main reason for picking this up is for 3d as I have an existing non-3d projector that works just fine. Anyone with this projector who uses it mainly for 3d that can compare it to another 3d projector running at 120 hz refresh? If it really does show up noticible flicker I will cancel and pay the extra $200 for the Acer. Thanks!

I've has over 4 3d hdtvs and ive obviously been to the movies to watch 3d and not ONCE I've had eye strain from 3d, but with this projector even for less than 20 minutes I feel like gouging my eyes out I don't even know why:mad: the 3d is beautiful but the colors are NOT. every time you calibrate 3d and go back to 2d, 3d goes back to some stupidly bright settings.

btw CONGRATS ON ALL WHO BOUGHT FROM NEWEGG, remember to sign up for shoprunner and get free 2 day shipping on top of that good deal.

Cancelled my Amazon order too. They still don't have them and newegg's price is right.

Hi, new member here smile.gif

I bought this projector this week and it arrived today. I'm very satisfied with image quality, however the one thing that I noticed is that mine is quite loud and suffers from a buzzing sound (originating close to the lamp I think); My previous beamer was also Acer and in Eco mode it was very silent. This one however has aside from the air pumping out a buzzing sound that changes whenever I tilt or movie the projector (intervals become faster and slower) and even in eco mode it's there. I'd like to know if this is normal or if I should consider sending back my projector for a replacement. It's really intrusive when there's a silent scene in a movie.

While the w1070 bests the 6510 I have to be honest here and say that is one heck of a deal at $630 and even though I have 3 pj's here already I am tempted to grab one strictly as a gaming pj since it certainly has the lumen's to fill my 133" with some goodness.

My concern would be regarding lack of proper calibration ability built into the unit but at this price and for gaming it's going to be tough to pass up... redface.gif

That sounds defective to me, I would exchange.

Best of luck,

Thx Jason! I suspected as much. Will contact the store tomorrow and set up an exchange.

P.S. I'm jealous of all the great deals you are getting in the States, very hard to find it over here under 700 euro.

If you have a colorimeter this thing has a CMS so you should be able to get it to where it is really quite good. With my unit brightness, contrast and gamma are quite accurate out of the box. Colors look oversaturated but I've seen much worse on TV's that cost just as much or more.

If you keep an eye on it you might be able to grab one at $630 still.

Bumblefeet, that is definitely defective. Mine is silent. I would guess it is a ballast but I really don't know.

you're moving it so the fan is hitting something so it's normal

and yeah this projector sounds like it's about to take off in eco mode.
