first of all, i don't know whether this needs to be in the official audyssey thread or the official onkyo818, so i thought i'd just create it's own.
anyways, i've recently upgraded to an onkyo tx-nr818 from a 9yr old H/K AVR507LE (which i loved to bits) and unfortunately, i'm not happy with the onkyo's sound. it's been well broken in and i've ran audyssey on it multiple times, i'm just not impressed with what i'm getting out of it.
now, i'm thinking of resurrecting my H/K AVR and just use the onkyo as a pre/pro for it, now my question is, will audyssey still work? will it still be able to correct the audio in the room even though it is not controlling the amplification (or am i wrong to assume that?)
'coz if audyssey is useless in that setup, i might as well just sell it (can't it return it to shop as it's been a few months already)
