With the 2013 CES announcement of the new plasmas, i would start a thread to address questions regarding the likely popular st60 series plasma sets available in 50, 55, 60, and 65 inch sizes.

I'm sorry, .001?

I don't believe it for a second.

0.01, not 0.001. Also, the numbers are in cd/m^2, whereas most reviews use ft-L.

The 0.03 cd/m^2 for the VT50 is most likely for cinema mode. The VT50 is closer to 0.007 cd/m^2 if you use any other mode. Cinema mode on VT50 has considerably worse blacks, but has the benefit of much dithering in dark areas. Remember European models in pro modes use the elevated cinema mode blacks + limited output, whereas American models get much lower blacks + better peak output.

Digital Versus ST60 review is up http://www.digitalversus.com/tv-television/panasonic-tx-p50st60-p15314/test.html

Pretty disappointing, they pretty much said 2D and 3D picture quality is exactly the same as the ST50 and called it a day.

I do believe that's a review of the EU version. It's a literal translation of the review they posted of the EU set. Digital Verses is based in France I believe.

I was at my local BB today in Golden, CO and saw an employee about to load one of these (or at least try to) in a BMW 3 series for a guy. They didn't have any on display so the guy was buying it sight unseen. I made a quick "hey you got an ST60, nice!" comment and went on my way. Could've offered to load it in my 4Runner and give it a ride home for him, but don't think he'd have gone for that.

Looking forward to some hands on observations....

lmao. Looks like the 2013 panasonics are going to be a gamers worst nightmare. 66ms? That's stepping

into LG plasma territory. My previous X5 lagged 3 frames, which basically matches the 45-48ms mentioned by a few reviewers. Panasonic is officially out of the question now for gamers looking to make the

HD plunge. I'm still hanging onto my 2011 S30(16ms of lag through component cables) but even then, I still feel a little bit of a difference in performance, more so with motion controls. It still performs fantastic and wont hinder your

skills, but it doesn't quite feel 'on the dime', unituitive, impressive or fun to play. Keep in mind, i'm extremely anal and picky and have been gaming on lag free CRT's

since the 80's. As far as panasonic plasma's go, it's still the best to game on

Anyways, I wonder how the 2013 Samsung plasma's will fair this year...And forget abou that HDMI'1' PC labeling trick,

since it blocks out half the picture controls...

I thought you might show up.

However, I don't think we have any accurate lag tests on any new models at this point.

The ST60 Series Manuals are now available for download:

ST60 Owners Manual: http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/TCP50ST60.PDF

ST60 E-Help Manual: http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/E-HELP_ST60.PDF

Quick way to Check the Hours Used Via the regular User Menu (same for all 2013 models):

Go to Menu > Help > Version > and scroll down to Status4. On that line you'll see a letter A or B or C followed by a 4-digit number which is the number of hours. A0039-0000 for instance would be 39 hours. C1926-00000 would be 1,926 hours. http://www.avsforum.com/forum/167-p...l-panasonic-s60-series-discussion-thread.html

Being that the GT models are gone for this model year, I'm curious: does the ST60 compare more closely to 2012's GT models or 2012's ST models? I'm seeing reports for both.

The blacks on the st60 are much better than the gt50. They is some pictures posted by tps over on the avforums.

You're seeing reports for both because the ST50 and GT50 have the same panel and filter and electronics and the picture quality between the two is virtually identical, so you can compare the ST60 to both equally (disregarding the GT50's THX modes completely of course).

Scanning the manual it looks like the TC-PxxST60 has a lot more features than the ST50 that it replaced:

Has Pro Settings Menu in Custom and also in Cinema mode

Copy Settings function to copy your Custom or Cinema settings to another input or all inputs

Has a new Home Theater picture mode - "provides a soft film-like picture for watching movies in a dark room"

24p Direct In, with a 96Hz setting available for 1080p content via HDMI

1080p Pixel Direct - Enables 1080p 24/60 4:4:4 signal

Has HDMI/DVI RGB range Auto/Standard/Non-Standard adjustment (standard RGB 16-235 or non-compliance 0-255)

Overscan On/Off setting (looks like it replaces HDMI Size 1 and HDMI Size 2)

Has more stretch modes, and adds vertical size adjustment to the Just mode

Screen Display On/Off (useful when listening to sound without watching the screen - press any key and picture returns)

Screen Wipe (Scrolling Bar) doesn't mention being timed out after 15 minutes like before, pressing any key cancels it

Built-In Wireless Correction - the ST50 also had Built-In Wireless, i forgot to edit this line out when i copy/pasted S60 info - Thanks for the correction guys.

Do you see any other mistakes?
