If the features of the VT60 or ZT60 were important to me then I would go to a 55" or 60" size to get the features I wanted from those models at a price I am willing to spend. But for me the ST60 has the right mix of features for the price, and my budget allows me to get the 65" size (biggest available). So I basically agree, get the biggest you can afford.

Yes but I cannot warrant paying the almost $1000 more for the 65 over the 60! From my 9-10 ft viewing distance 60" will suit me just fine.

There are enough quirks with the VT25 (banding, floating/fluctuating blacks, rising black level) that I'm fed up with that it should be worth it. Best part is there really isn't a hassle of selling the current TV and it isn't going to cost me anything. The "smart" features aren't really of interest to me since I connect a nice HTPC to the TV and watch all of my content on that anyway.

I think either size will work for the 7 to 8 foot range. My prime viewing position is about 8 feet from my 55ST60. I originally had bought a 50ST50 for that TV room because I thought 55 would be too big. I thought 50 inches was just about perfect until the ST50 failed after 5 weeks of use and I had to replace it. I found that Panasonic Canada only had 55ST60's available in Ontario for a replacement in March. I was quite worried that I would find that 55 inches was too large but in the past 4 weeks have really come to enjoy the larger screen, especially when watching blu ray or high quality Netflix HD titles on my Apple TV. Just avoid watching any SD cable stations.

There is no version of the ST that does not have 3D, if you dont want 3D you would ahve to step down to the S series (S60\S64) which then you would lose other features as well......

Exactly, budget limits you to the 60" which is the biggest you can get for that amount.... enjoy!

if you don't like the glare or lack of filter on the S60, you could go with the 65S64 from Sams/Costco. It's the same price as the P65S60 on the street but has the AR filter on it. No 3d, just wifi, netflix, hulu, etc and that's about it.

Is there a 65" S64 model? What is the price difference between the 65" ST60 and the 65" S64?

I have the TV set up and running the slides. I DO notice the band down the right side. It's only visible on certain slides and if I look really hard for it. Unless this gets worse, it is nothing I would ever concern myself with.

So are rising black levels simply something that was an issue with an older model year, or does it affect the 2013 lineup as well?

Long gone. Thank God.

I also have noticed a decent amount of IR the past few days. I'll be in a lobby of Call of Duty for a minute and a half or so, and the banner "Hardcore Team Deathmatch will be temporary stuck until I run the screen wiper utility for about 15 seconds (usually the loafing screen going into the match. It gets rid of it no problem.

I was just wondering can running the screen wiper utility for an extended amount of time do any damage to the display? If anyone wants to know what settings I'm using they're located a few pages back.

how should i set the ST60 to be used as a PC Display? The text is not clear at all and i have some "shadows" or better say like a hallo around the text.

You can run the screen wiper utility until the cows come home and it wont hurt anything.

If you have an AMD video card, try turning off ITC processing in the video card settings under "My digit flat panels". That instantly got rid of all sharpening for me.

Don't use the 3D feature, you will pay about $5 bucks for it if you are lucky.......

That's what I was gonna say. Just cause it CAN play 3D doesn't mean you have to. That's like saying I don't want a TV that plays Netflix...so can I choose another model (instead of the best)?

Pulled the trigger on the 60ST60 from BB. Wasn't planning on running the slides but since I don't have help to hang it on the wall till next weekend so might as well. Hope I don't have IR or any weird issues.

What is BB selling this set for? It is still not on their site.
BB priced matched the Sears price so it's 1,499 plus tax. They have two in stock at my location. You can call your local BB and ask if they have it in stock. Not listed on the website yet.

I am currently running d-nice slides, and for the first 32 hours of the conditioning C.A.T.S was on. I have seen a lot of different posts regarding whether to turn it off or keep it on. Currently I have it set to off. Does anyone know definitely if it should be off or on?

Also, the white slide looks TERRIBLE, really really gray, while the black has started to get deeper and deeper. The white slide has audible buzzing from at least 6-8 feet away. Is the buzzing and muddy(is that what its called?) white slide normal during the first part of the TV's life? I'm currently at 36 hours.

Sorry guys, I know you hear this a lot, but this is my first plasma set, actually it is my first set ever! I use to run my TV on my PC and I don't consider a 21 inch PC monitor to be a "Set"

I wonder how Panasonic decides who they will send their new TCP60st60's to first? Best Buy has them but you have to convince them of it. Sears doesn't have them. RC Willey had them about 10 days ago but I couldn't buy one because all 6 they had in stock were all spoken for. I ordered mine 3 weeks ago from Video Only and I still don't have it. If Best Buy would only match my price of $1399 from Video Only I would of had the tv a week ago. Dang it!
I caved in.. Ran the slides for 30 hours, plugged in D-Nice's settings, watched about an hour of full screen movie network.. Looks amazing, I'm very impressed. biggrin.gif

Going to input CNET's settings into the Cinema picture mode later this weekend and see how those look.. Just to see the difference between the two.

Ok slides are back on now..

I got mine yesterday and it's also my first plasma. I have CATS set to off, which is the default setting for Custom picture mode - so I assume that is the correct setting. This was also confirmed over in the settings thread - that CATS should be off.

My set has very minor buzzing. I can only hear it if it is totally quiet. Any background noise at all and I can't hear any buzzing.

Which slide is the black one? I thought there was just various shades of gray along with white, red, blue and green. The darkest one is not black, but a dark gray.

That's exactly what I did. Bought it at BB on Wednesday, and had them match Sears for $1499. Delivery was free and I got it Friday.
