No. The ST60 uses a more advanced higher-performing panel than the S60/S64 does so the overall PQ will be better on the ST60.

How close is your tv to the wall? I have my 60" wall mounted and was considering that LED strip, but Im afraid that it wont be bright enough/the wall will absorb the light because the strip is too close to the wall.

Sorry to beat a dead horse, but what's your opinions of ST60 vs VT50? Someone living out of country wants to buy one. I haven't personally seen the ST60 either, but will later tonight.

D-Nice stated that the colors are about the same. Although from the calibration reports I have seen posted the VT50 can be dialed in closer to perfection. He also said the ST60 blacks were better. Long term settings might be more stable in the VT50 but time will tell in the ST60.

But, the no 48hz in 3D is unacceptable, since the ST50 only looked good in 48hz. Would a firmware update to enable 48hz be simple for panasonic?

GOOD QUESTION! We all should get on the horn with them and complain/ask about this issue.

Maybe...I kinda thought that stuff was all a gimmick but maybe not.

Was the 50 series the first year they used the 2500 FFD? I never had a 25/30 series to compare my 50 to though so...?????

The geek squad guy just left. We ran a few demos and I can't wait to play around with these new settings more. My first impression was it would have been totally worth $250! What he did was awesome! He knew what he was doing and had had several years of experience dong this (that being said - each tech is going to be different) I'll post more thoughts and the settings later tonight, but VERY impressed with what he did. He showed me some per-calibration charts and actually the settings I got from AVS were pretty close but pushed too much red (ever so slightly) now they are all even.

BTW he just calibrated a Samsung F8500 last week and did a ton of VT50s last year. He said based on what he saw - he thought this TV was almost better than the VT50 and for half the price of the F8500 he was super impressed with what the ST60 could do. The only thing he wished the ST60 would have had is the secondary color settings. H couldn't get the yellow, cyan, and magenta EXACTLY where he wanted them but he was pleased with it non-the-less. He said the human eye wouldn't be able to detect the difference.

I'll post more later.

Yeah my impression while comparing the 8500 and the ST60 at the store was that the ST60 was right there with the 8500 or at least not far behind (the 8500 was brighter). For half the price at that. They were the best 2 panels on the wall (VT60 wasn't in yet). But it is nice to hear another "pro" corroborate what I am seeing.

This has solved my issue, just make sure the tv is on and set to the input you want before turning on the hdmi device. I guess it has something to do with how the tv handles the handshake between the two devices.

I have the same issue but these steps didn't work for me.

My PS3 worked great on HDMI 1. When I powered down the TV and PS3, changed the cable to HDMI 2 and powered the TV then PS3 on I get the "No signal" message on the TV.

I even tried unplugging the power cables of the TV and PS3 for a couple minutes, reconnecting and powering on, but it still didn't work (via HDMI 2).

Is there anything else I can try to get the HDMI 2 or 3 inputs working?

There's someone in the S60 thread having HDMI problems too. Could be a problem with these TVs.

i believe you may be hitting the Home button when toggling the arrow buttons . I did quite it a few times when setting it up, since toy are looking at the screen and using your thumb. It got frustrating. Terrible spot location in my opinion

Can someone post the best settings for 3D. Playing with it now set motion smoother to weak and off still getting some cross talk
Using home theater mode for settings

This what I found from a review site

through the Custom setting (Motion Smoother to Strong setting, 3D Adjustment setting to +3) we got a very solid 3D picture that popped
Tried it not to bad, any other suggestions for optimal 3d experience with minimized cross talk ?

Okay now from personal experience I have tried 6 different settings (all other people who calibrated their individual sets WITH equipment) but here is what my calibrator came up with today on MY set. Let me know if anything sticks out to you, but I am super pleased with these on MY set.

Side note: I used one of the settings I got from another member on here and they were pretty close to inline calibration on his computer but the reds were high so don't be surprised if you see something different on your set when you plug these in.

For 3D, if you leave motion smoother to off or weak you're more likely to get crosstalk. It needs to be on mid or high.

That's what I've seen.. Haven't tried 3D yet. Got an Oppo 103 yesterday, need to setup this bad boy and maybe watch Avatar 3D later tonight, it's just too nice outside right now, summer in the Nations Capital much better than winter cool.gif

Hey guy just got my st60 this week, looks great but I can seem to find a good mount that swivels and extends. What is the consensus on the best wall mounts for this tv?

Agree, mid or strong. Weak does not do much. Also, -3 if you want more popout. +3 will push everything back more into the TV. That is personal preference on what you enjoy more.

Any suggestions on whether to set it to 96hz or 120hz (under 3D settings). I watched Avatar last night (it look great by the way) and I kept switching back an forth from 120hz and 96hz. I really didn't notice much difference between the two. My eyes did seem to get less fatigued when set to 96hz (but that could just be in my head)rolleyes.gif
