The 3D is okay but the glasses suck. I hate the active glasses, I wish they would have gone passive. Supposedly active is better but no matter how much better it is it just can't make up for those dumb glasses. The active glasses darken the picture so much it's ridiculous, they let tons of light in around them which takes from the experience, if you look at anything othyer than the TV you can seethe flicker in the glasses.

The first is that I used the disney WOW disc on the advanced mode, and I did read some of the threads on here about the settings, but the contrast is set to 95 and even when I set to 100, the +2% star is the only one I can get to. All picture enhancers are turned off and the brightness is set properly, is there an issue here? The other issue is when I hooked up my PS3 Fat (40 gig model), the tv will not recognize the 3d, my PS3 is up to date firmware, but when I put in my only 3d disc, Tron, the display will not recognize the PS3, it seems. There is a message saying to attach a 3d device etc on the screen. I inserted the silver coloured disc that is the 3d one in the set. Am I missing something? I tried to press the 3d button on the remote and still nothing. But when i put the regular blu ray disc in a do the 2d to 3d conversion, it seems to work. Any suggestions?
Erick

Also repeat the HDMI setup for your PS3. You can also hold down the power button, on the console not the controller, until the PS3 beeps twice, this resets the video output setting. If you go through the settings reset and it does not prompt you for the screen size of your tv for 3D it did not recognize it as a 3D tv.

Are there better active glasses that don't cost an arm and a leg or would I be wasting my time. I'm a 3D newbie so hopefully I'm entitled to a dumb question or two biggrin.gif

There are cheaper glasses, they aren't any better or worse. It's just the active technology I don't like. The Samsung 4100 and 5100 glasses work with the ST60 at around 1/3 the price of the Panasonics. You get two pairs of glasses with the TV.

I gotcha thanks. I see some active ones that are more money and wondered if they made a difference.

Just beginning to learn this set...and I definitely don't have time to read this entire thread lol, but Super White? Is that something that should be on all the time or just when running calibration? I can help anyone when it comes to anything audio, but sometimes I'm just lost when it comes to settings.

Been looking for a way to pick up the WOW disc, but I don't have a blu-ray. I have the WDTV-Live and can stream anything from my PC so I'm not sure if that helps. I'd love if I could just purchase it somewhere and stream it from my PC, but not sure where I could do that. Anyone?

The Super white is a display setting on the PS3 that needs to be changed for contrast . As far as the final settings, I went buy what was in the PS3 master thread in the Blu-Ray Player section of the forum.

I don't think different glasses will make a difference. They do have rechargable glasses if you're going to use them a lot. You can get a 5 pack of the batteries for the glasses on Amazon for $2 shipped so you would have to watch a lot of 3D to pay for the $50 rechargable glasses.

I'll just get an extra pair or two of the ones that come with it then.

Just bought a brand new hdmi cable, insignia 3d compatible with high speed Ethernet 13.0 gbps, compatible 3d? Then tried my other hdmi cable, decent quality ( can't remember then brand) still nothing.

Also, did my calibration with my other player, Panasonic BD85

Wait? RGB FULL is the appropriate setting on Playstation 3 for this TV?

I thought Limited was the video standard.

The glasses that come with the TV are $60, the Samsungs are $19 at Amazon.

I believe PS3 is set to full / Super White On, and on the TV the HDMI setting is changed to NON-STANDARD. My receiver clips BTB/WTW, but I am using an HDMI splitter to TV (picture) and receiver (audio), and I think those are the settings I used.

If the PS3 is running through a receiver with other components connected, you may need to check the levels when using the other components, to make sure the picture isn't getting crushed on one or the other.

Just know that the PS3 can't do 3D and uncompressed audio at the same time. That was a deal breaker for me, I bought a standalone player instead.

Really, I might have to do the same. 3d is not the most important thing, anyways, but the picture on regular 2d is just stunning!

FWIW I had my ST50 professionally calibrated and he set the ST50 HDMI/DVI RGB Range to Auto. PS3 settings are RGB Full Range (HDMI) Limited and Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr Super White (HDMI) to On.

If you don't care about 3D, the PS3 can do uncompressed audio, it just can't do uncompressed audio and 3D at the same time. Sony could probably fix the issue with a firmware update but with the PS4 right around the corner I don't think they care.

I just got through the 100hrs of slides and have applied d-nice' and C-net's calibrations settings. Loving this p50st60 and all of its functionality. 3D has been my obsession this week once I found out that Netflix actually has 30 or so titles that will play in high def 3D as long as your ISP is cooperating with Netflix and their new roll-out. I was honestly blown away by the 3D quality and am now trying to figure out how to be able to watch Side-by-Side 3D files from my pc. I thought I had it figured out tonight when I realized I could force the tv to recognize SBS (by hitting the 3D button on the remote followed by the RED "R" button) but when the SBS picture comes together, it seems like it not lining up quite right. I tested with Youtube, XBMC, Windows Media, and VLC player......all seemed to show an over justified 3D view. When I watch 3D on the built in Netflix app or my chrome-cast, the TV recognizes the 3D signal and adjusts accordingly.

How can I get my PC to play nice with the st60 and not overcompensate the blend on SBS 3D?
Could it be my PC's resolution setting or a sub-menu setting on the TV that I've yet to discover?

Same question, I just got this TC-P60ST60 and the manual says you need M8-.... screws, I don't see how a 8 mm thick (M8) screw would fit into those holes in the back of TV? Those 4 holes on the back of TV are super tiny, they are like 1 mm thick, I don't get it, am I missing something? HELP :-)

This was fixed 2 years ago. The PS3 can do both HD audio and 3d. http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/08/09/ps3-system-software-update-v3-70/#utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=update_080911
