But for those who want to sit on the couch and play a game on the big screen the options will be there. The beauty of this is that it is even more free form than the gamepad, you can litterally take your game anywhere with you seamlessly.

Wii U sales seem to have exploded since the Xbone reveal, at least in the UK on Amazon.
Ha, I just read a similar article. I'm just going to chalk it up to amusing coincidence unless it turns out to be a sustained thing.

Still, the Sony/MS next-gen reveals sorta cemented my fear of what "true next gen" would turn out to be: better graphics and a bunch of meaningless bells and whistles. PS3-level visuals will suit me just fine for a while, and the Gamepad at least hypothetically offers the chance of gameplay innovations (the console RE Revelations demo felt downright clunky after ZombiU's intuitive Gamepad use, for instance). I mean, there is no doubt that Sony and MS will once again annihilate Nintendo in terms of third-party support, possibly more than ever, but as someone who only buys a few games a year that's not a huge concern to me. I'm sure I'll pick up either a PS4 or XboxOne at some point, but I think I'll be happy with my Wii U and PS3 for quite a while.

When I started Mario last night, there was another Wii U system update, or perhaps it was a Mario game update. I can never tell what's being updated, but it was done within a few minutes, so I assume it was a Mario update.
That was a system-wide update. One of those vague "stability" fixes.

Monolith's X has been confirmed to be shown in Nintendo's E3 Direct!
Hot damn. That is my most anticipated Wii U game, even over SSB, Mario, etc. I just hope it's not too PSO-y, and has Gamepad-only play.

Sonic Lost Worlds debut trailer is up. It looks like it could be surprisingly good.

Sonic Galaxy!? Seriously, it looks like they fully embraced the Mario Galaxy style for world design.
I currently have 9 Wii U games, but looking at the list of games I still need to buy, and the upcoming games, I have 23 games to buy so far between now and whenever the last game releases (probably Retro's unannounced game)

I have another 23 to buy on the 3DS this year alone (I own 14 so far) this is just insanity. 46 games I 100% plan to buy, with 90% of them coming out this year... and every time I turn around it seems I remember more games that I didn't count. My wallet is going to kill me... oh crap, I forgot eshop exclusive releases, and the Virtual Console... And E3 will add even more games to that...

I guess there is only one thing to say, Nintendo,

Doesn't look like it copies Super Mario Galaxy enough for my taste. The floating worlds are reminiscent but the gameplay didn't look particularly appealing to me. And that's where the Galaxy games shined. The pretty graphics and environments are meaningless otherwise.

I'm surprised that you have so many games already. Not yet a Wii U owner but just New Super Mario Brothers U, Need for Speed, and Lego City have appealed to me enough from what I've seen to make it on my to-buy list for released games so far. Of course there are several others I'll buy if the right deal ever came along but not enough where I genuinely must have them and will go out of my way to acquire them.

And the 3DS is at 9 released games so far with a couple of others that are currently out that are future possibilities like Kingdom Hearts when I catch up with earlier entries in those series.

Beautiful... This could be good. Really good.

Sonic Colors was one of my favorite games on Wii, it was darn good, especially given the "Sonic Curse". Making it more like SMG would be awesome.

I'm not too far from one of the Best Buy's in Michigan but I work 3rds and the hours for the two days make it difficult for me. :/
post #558 of 1281
So the white premium set probably means they're phasing out the basic set entirely, eh? The charge cradle/stand still being black seems to point to there being a ton of leftovers of those as well.
Now we know why Target began fire sales on the Basic... Looks like that bundle is getting axed. Now the big question, will the deluxe drop to $299 to take over the price slot?

Drop all the fluff, No Nintendo Land, Charging Cradle, Display stands and drop the price across the board to $299. Two colors, same contents and price.

Firesale old bundles to give people a good deal much like the current Basic sale at Target and make the system look even cheaper next to the Xbone and PS4.

Then, during the fall, bundle NSMBU digitally with the systems for Christmas shoppers and to encourage more people to pick it up. (And maybe get a few to download Super Luigi U)

Dammit, I knew I should have waited.

Early adopters always get burned no matter what, it is part of the package of buying early these days.
I'd rather see the black bundle stay as it is with just the game replaced with a retail copy of New Super Mario Brothers U and with a price reduction hopefully.

That's what I'm hoping to see.

Me too!

OTOH, my local BestBuy is one of the California locations that is listed for Wii U E3 demos. Gonna have to check this out, as the only Wii U title I have played has been NSMBU @ the local Target Wii u kiosk

At least I got.... wait... Balloon Fight? Goddammit.

The gamepad battery life never bothered me, but those quick charge wii remote packs they're selling are about 6 years too late. Everyone has their own wacky solution and I own like 20 rechargeable batteries.

I ordered a hard drive. Getting those extra 24 GB for $50 doesn't seem worth it when I managed 750GB for nearly as much.

Continuing the stream of consciousness, the price drop has been going on since New Year's, but everyone wants a bigger price drop for some reason. Amazon listed the new xbox for 600 Euros. I'm not even doing the math on that one.
Here's a shock. A larger capacity battery from Nintendo is on its way.

http://www.engadget.com/2013/05/30/official-2550mah-wii-u-gamepad-battery-announced-in-japan-promi/?utm_medium=feed&utm_source=Feed_Classic&utm_campaign=Engadget

I wonder what took them so long. Has been obvious from the moment the first person took the battery compartment lid off and saw all the empty space that this was inevitable.

Super Metroid.

Europe never had a set price to begin with, so most of those price drops were from greedy retailers who overpriced the system out the gate.

Not sure how I feel about the 100 seconds thing (never understood why Mario levels bother with time limits anyway), but the rest of that sounds awesome. 82 new levels plus totally different physics equals basically a whole new Mario game for $20. I'm liking how Nintendo is approaching DLC.

Every week since January there's been a different discount at major retailers. It's generally $30-50 off or a free game is included. Anyone who says the system's overpriced isn't paying attention, or wants it for less than $200.

It was overpriced at launch in European countries, every retailer set the prices much higher than they should have hoping to gouge early adopters. Prices have been falling to where they should have been at launch and in many cases, even further thanksto everyone waiting at this point to see how low they can go.
