Facts are facts. They're doing horribly in sales. So obviously they didn't do something right.

facts don't work in fanboy wars..

I'm a Nintendo fanboy and I admit truth. I never said the gamecube or wii would ruin Nintendo, like many insisted, but this one is undeniable that they have to fix quick to save it. And they will probably not have a Zelda game ready for years.
They just released a great remake of a modern Zelda classic which boosted sales significantly, have adjusted their pricing and bundles, and it appears like major 1st party releases will be semi regular into next year with Super Mario 3D World being their Christmas headliner.

That's their fix and they're hoping it leads to a significant boost in sales to provide solid Christmas sales numbers and sustain the console in 2014. Time will tell if it does the trick.

They saved the 3DS despite a good bit of doom and gloom during the first year. So perhaps they can recover here and end up selling 30 or 40 million of these.

If the worst Zelda game being remade is their big hope in saving things, they're in trouble. they didn't even add a dungeon and actually made the game shorter instead of longer when it was already too short as it was.

I don't even think Mario or Zelda could save this colossal fail of a system. Especially with the PS4 and Xbone hitting now. Zelda WW was horrible. Sail sail sail and sail some more. I would never want to revisit that turd. By far the worst Zelda made. The art direction sucked as well. I have had my Wii U since launch and have only played New Super Mario U, Lego City, Pikmin 3 and Rayman Legends. I would say right now as we speak. Even though the Wii U has been out about a year now.

The only excellent game out for it is Rayman Legends. The new Mario looks fantastic as well. Getting that on day 1. But, yeah between those 2. Imo, that is all the U has to offer for excellent games. That is not enough to move the system. The only flip side to this madness. Price. Its a $100-$200 dollars cheaper then the competition. And you get a pack in game or 2. Parents see price and "value" when on a budget. That U will get the nod over the other 2.

Its not that bad though because the bigger 3rd party titles are on it. Ghosts, Blacklist and Batman for example.

yeah I tried playing wind waker a second time a while back and could not even play it long at all before it bored me to death. I don't even think I got through a dungeon the second time. I am hoping for the wii u I can get into it enough for another playthrough, but how people think it's one of the best zeldas beats me. And the graphics annoy me. Nothing to do with being kiddy, it's just so colorful it about makes me sick from overdoing it. I loved OoT, MM, TP, and SS. So wind waker is the ONE 3d Zelda game which annoys me.

I think by now the writing is pretty much on the wall with Wii U, it will live or die on Nintendo's own titles because third party support will not be a factor they can count on. Mario 3D world looks to be a hit after first coming off as a port of the 3ds title, Donkey Kong is coming soon, as is smash bros and mario kart. These titles collectively will move units, and they need to continue to improve the 'perceptual' value of the system via bundles; the $299 mario/luigi U pack came at the right time with the holidays approaching and ps4/xbone on the immediate horizon.

The 3ds was saved by 1) dropping the price from $249 to $169 and 2) zelda 3d followed by 3d land and mario kart 7 coinciding with said price drop. It also helps that as far as dedicated portables go, they really have no competition as Sony's offerings haven't proven a serious threat especially the Vita. By contrast, the ps4 and xbone present a far greater threat to the wii U on the home console front.

Yes, millions of ipads aka "no competition"
Last I checked, 3ds was selling on-par or even better than its predecessor which didn't have the onslaught of 99 cent flash games to contend with. The IOS/android market has not hampered nintendo handheld sales in any way. And I believe I said 'dedicated portable', are we now including ipads in that category?

Man, 3D World looks more and more awesome with every new bit I see of it. Hype reaching critical mass.
I haven't played a whole Mario game in so many years. Heck, even with Mario kart games, I don't end up totally completing them. Last non-kart Mario game I completed, I believe, was super Mario world. Didn't buy sunshine. Couldn't get into Mario 64. Couldn't get into Mario galaxy. Didn't buy galaxy 2. Have some paper Mario and new super Mario bros. games that I never played much on, etc. Hopefully, some day I can get to playing them.

Any suggestions on where to get good pricing on games? I'd like to buy a bunch of stuff for my kids but all the big retailers are charging $30-60 for titles.

Amazon and Newegg are good. Gamefly has the best deals on used stuff. Newer Nintendo releases rarely drop in price, so you usually have to catch a sale.

Target's been doing Buy 2 Get 1 on all videogames this week (ending today). Toys R Us is currently offering Buy 1 Get 40% Off on all Wii U/3DS games, valid until 11/23. I'd bet on at least one more B2G1 videogame sale from one of the major retailers before Christmas.

Bought from Walmart full MSRP plus tax. Woke up the next morning, checked slickdeals and found the same bundle WiiU for $250 on daily ebay sale that was sponsored by buy.com

From what I hear, it isn't so much sail sail sail anymore.

As far as the PS4/XO hitting, doesn't really matter about that at all I don't think.
Wii did just fine releasing after the X360 and releasing side by side with the PS3.

WiiU needs some games, as it seems like you haven't played many. Though there are some more games that look very good that you haven't played. Maybe just two or three though. Nintendo will be helped out a little bit because the PS4/XO don't have games worth spending $400 and $500 over, and it should be pretty easy to find the WiiU for $250, or with some great bundles this holiday season. Hopefully in 2014 Nintendo can get the new Mario Kart and Smash Bros. out the door soon.
Mart Kart is really about the only reason why I bought the WiiU. All the other games that are offered are just bonus. biggrin.gif

Zelda WW is amazing.

For anyone who hasn't seen it, here's a link to IGN's video review for Mario 3d World they accidentally put up early. They gave it a 9.6. I can't wait for this one.
I'll be picking it up some time, but the PS4 launch drained me for a while and Black Friday bluray sales will hit me as well.
I was going to buy the new zelda and mario games, but I just have too many games to finish. I still havent beat kirby's epic yarn.
You know, I never got the fuss over Epic Yarn. Interesting, clever aesthetic, sure, but the gameplay just wasn't very engaging. Not even in co-op, which generally makes almost any game about 20% better.
It's too bad but it's definitely the graphics and seeing what's next that are the reason to play it. I don't think I died once and the only difficulty I had was with the controls when Kirby transformed into something else (A locomotive as I recall gave me a bit of trouble which pitifully enough was figured out by the 5 year old I was playing co-op with).

I hope Yoshi's Epic Yarn U or whatever the heck they're labeling their next game will bring some difficulty into the equation.
It's true, but many of my favorite games are easy. For all the times that Bit Trip Runner makes me shout cuss words, I enjoy a lengthy RPG like Xenoblade with no real challenge. It helps that I suck at video games. I'm playing Toki Tori 2 this week, and it strikes a nice balance. The puzzles are tough but I don't die every 30 seconds.

You can't actually die in Epic Yarn, you just lose your jewels. I'm not sure what direction they'll take with Yoshi. I assume it's still the same guys who did Wario Land, and that had moments of difficulty.
You couldn't even die? I guess that explains that. smile.gif

I too consider several easy games as among my favorites. But with a 2D style platformer, a good challenge can add so much to the experience and bring me back again in the future. And if Wario Land was from the same developers as Kirby's Epic Yarn, then it's the same team behind this upcoming Yoshi platformer.

I hope they live up to the legacy of Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Island DS. A medium difficulty level just to progress through the main game that while not so hard as to make you want to pull your hair out, you still will die a good number of times. And if you want to 100% it, a very high difficulty level is present if you want to get everything and see all the hidden levels in the game. I actually have never even 100%'ed a single level across the SuperNes original, the GBA port, and the DS sequel. Admittedly I never tried despite beating all three, but that I never accomplished it by accident even once leads me to believe that it must be quite a challenge.

I saw a big just dance cardboard area at kmart today with just dance 2014 on it and all the systems they sell it for. I noticed the Wii version, but no Wii u version. I wish that more wii u games could be found at stores that are new releases.
