If Flash drives will be available in these kinds of capacities...do we just need a bunch of USB ports and or add-in cards with a bunch of USB ports? smile.gif

At $1,750 for the 512GB model, the answer to all of your questions is an emphatic NO!

eh...minor detail...tongue.gif

Right now we're talking the embryo stage, not even infancy. Give it a year or two. I still remember buying 1GB flash drives for almost $50. If I extrapolate that price to 1000GB..... wink.gif

This smile.gif

Using a simple doubling of $3500 for 1TB (likely to be more) you could build a 8 drive 4TB striped volume + LSI fastpath controller for about the same.
A lot more useful to those that both care about transfer speeds and would actually spend several thousand on solid state storage wink.gif

Seems like a glorified tech demo, otherwise a 2.5" 1TB USB 3.0 drive is a little more than a hundred bucks.

Hmmm, ultra-portable porn.

Without reading the article, somehow i doubt that those flash drives can reach SSD level speeds anyway, and with harddiscs going 4TB and 5TB in the future, its still a lot more affordable for storage.
So unless you really need ultra-portable storage, there are probably better solutions for your storage needs.
