Hey all, I'm moving again and using this as an opportunity to refresh my home theater system. One particular annoyance of mine is running speaker wire across these ancient NYC apartments. I've vowed to never do it again.
Here's what I'm looking for:
Wireless speaker system
Two front speakers
Two rear / surround speakers
Center Channel (if offered)
Subwoofer
I'm open to both 5.1 / 7.1 / whatever but would like to keep the size / installation to a minimum. Looking to pack a big punch in a small size.
Loudness is not an issue as living in NYC means I can't blare tunes given the neighbor situation. I do mostly gaming and I stream movies / TV / sports using Netflix and Aereo. I don't have a cable TV subscription and I don't use physical media (no CDs and very very few DVDs), if that makes a difference. I'm more into mirroring iPad screens, streaming online video & music (Aereo, Amazon Instant Video, Netflix, Pandora, Spotify, etc), and lots and lots of gaming.
If there is a speaker / receiver combo I should check out, I'd definitely be interested as long as it has inputs for my devices like Xbox, a streaming device (Roku / AppleTV), and at least one extra.
Price range is below $1000 for the set, although I am willing and able to pay for quality. Obviously lower is better though!
