Av receiver optical out to the Astro A50s

I currently have a theater setup with surround sound thru an av receiver. I was wondering if i could just hook the Astros to the optical output of my receiver. I use hdmi switching for my Xbox, directv, Mac mini, etc. and was hoping to use the headset with all of the above when I was unable to turn up the volume. Thanks for the help

as long as your receiver can take hdmi and output it as optical. some can't, some can and some can only do stereo from the hdmi to optical like some tvs.
