O Audio shuts down

Looks like the company who produced some of the best plate amps for subwoofers has closed thier doors. The home page says it all...

O Audio is a small family business; and, as a family grows, priorities and time commitments change. As we enter 2013, it is time for us to close up shop.

Well hopefully it was about priorities and not hardship.

That's too bad. Their stuff is really good quality, and one of the few companies that would sent you a pdf telling you what all the boost settings were and what they could be modified to.

Well that sucks. They had the most versatile plate amp around (I have 2).

Dang, every time I was on the market for one of their amps they were out of stock of what I was looking for. I too hope that the closing was not from financial hard ship.

I guess I got my amp just in time. Got a 300W but might try gabbing a 500W just in case.

Let me know what happens with the 500, because that's the one I was looking at. Their website doesn't indicate they have any, but I suppose they could have a few tucked away in the back room.

I've been asking them for a 500 for a few months with no success. I believe they were having supplier problems, what a shame.

I wonder if Indigo Audio (inventers of BASH) being bought by an overseas company affected their situation. OAudio may have been too small to keep the attention of the new company. Just speculating out loud....

Yea, same here. I wonder if that's what turned out to be the final nail in the coffin...

Well, I may be selling my O Audio 500W amp pretty soon. It's in excellent condition and is less than 1 year old. Gain has never been past 50%.

Why sell it if it is working fine? Failure rates are so miniscule and will probably last for many years. Why take a hit? Just use the thing and enjoy it.

I want to go with a standalone amp and mini dsp for EQ. smile.gif

Well, that's a different story then.wink.gif

I sent a question to them about selling remaining stock. No reply but I was not looking to be 100 amps. So I am not surprised that I have not heard back. cool.gif

That is too bad. I bought a pair of 12" DVC TC2+ from them that I still have never used. Sitting in the box. This thread reminded me.
