I already posted my stats here ( no problems yet)...just saying I read its better to hard wire to use those app's/internet with ethernet cable then use the Wi-Fi connection, stronger signal with a wired connection from what I read.

Not 100% sure but a cheap HDMI cable/or a length of HDMI cable over 15 feet will give that sync issue...I just read a lot about this..not a tech.

1) 11/22/12(black friday)
2)Walmart
3)Now on 2nd unit
4)First until randomly shut off and on 1/15/13 had a green dotted vertical line appeared on the right side of the screen.
5)Walmart honored the receipt and did a clean swap for a new one with no out of pocket expense to me. I did buy a 3 year extended warranty.
6)Decided to try a 2nd Vizio E601-A3. I purchased the TV for $688 and the TV now sells for $999. If I took the cash option and swapped to a different brand I would be several hundred dollars out of pocket to try to buy a similar TV with these specs.
7)Old SN:?(was not printed on receipt for some reason, walmart is pretty incompetent), New SN: 48
8)4-6 hours during the week and 6-8 hours during the weekend

Today is my second viewing day for the new TV. Seems ok. Has two little backlight bleed through spots on black backgrounds by the right bottom corner. I have it setup on standard "Movie" picture setup. I have a 3 year warranty now so I don't know if I should just turn it off when i go to bed/work or leave it on for a few days like other people have posted just to see if anything happens. I am 35 years old and have purchased my fair share of TV's. I have been a big Samsung Fan but decided to give Vizio a shot. So far I am not really impressed. I almost decided to just get a smaller Samsung smart tv and not even get another Vizio. If this one goes out again during the 90 Day Walmart Return Period, I will just get a Samsung and be done with it. Too much hassle boxing up a 60inch TV, getting my dad to lend me his truck, haggling with the Walmart people, reconnecting everything, ect.....

UPDATE ON THE STATS:

We have collected some great information in a small random sampling of data now we can start to see some patterns develop. There are 2 main issues with this TV:

1) lip sync......which will be corrected with FW update 1.1.5. Also keep in mind there are too many variables to track because everyone's setup is different.
2) Black screen of death......I truly believe that Sharp unloaded a large quantity of defective LCD panels and we need to make Vizio well aware of the stats that have been analyzed to make them hold true to replacing all the defective sets.

Lets take a look at all the serial numbers as of 1.16.13. Please keep in mind there were a few that returned black screen units and did not know the serial # of the defective unit so this will potentially skew the results. However they did report the # of the new set.
38 2
39 1
40 4 (ALL BLACK SCREENS OF DEATH)
42 1 (BLACK SCREEN)
43 2
44 2 (ONLY 1 BLACK SCREEN)
45 3
46 6
47 2
48 2
49 5
50 1
51 1
60 (I do not believe this is accurate....I have never seen a 60 reported before)

Set up my replacement TV tonight. I did get another E601i-A3. Serial number now starts 49. Software version out of box is 1.1.4 I took snapshots of my previous picture settings so I could duplicate them on the new TV. Backlight seems a little more spotty during boot up, but not noticeable during regular viewing. No lip sync issues seen yet. I only ever saw lip sync problems during MNF on ESPN. The only thing I have noticed so far which may be different is a color temp setting called computer. I don't remember that one but I could be wrong. Hopefully I am good from here on out. If this one goes bad, I will not be getting another. I will go with the Samsung or LG.

Received my replacement unit from Vizio on Friday(1/11/13), 14 days from placing my claim with Vizio.
New unit has 51 Serial Number.
So far working perfectly except for 1 instance of VERY BAD, increasing over time lip sync with a DVR recorded show via HDMI 1. The lip sync timing of audio preceeding vidio was small but continued to increase over viewing time and it did not go away when stopping, pausing, rewinding or forwarding the video. Very weird thing was that the commercials were NOT out of sync... so it leads me to believe that the lip sync was something specific to the audio format being sent to my DVR by the provider for only the show. This is not uncommon as I commonly see the incoming format change when watching TV when I use my AV Pre/pro. Other than this ONE single show, I have seen no lip sync problems at all in many, many many hours of use from three different sources and inputs.
Since lip sync, unit has updated firmware from 1.1.4 to 1.1.5 - connected via wireless.

IMAGE is wonderful and everything else I have used has worked perfectly so far.

Will update if any glitches occur.

5. Vizio told me on 12/28/2012 that they would send a new replacement, but as of today, 1/9/2013, they have not shipped that replacement. Was promised I would receive my replacement no later than 13 working days, which expires on 1/17/2013.
6. Waiting for identical model replacement from Vizio

A tech came today and replaced all the boards inside the TV because of the random power-off issue. It will remain to be seen whether this fixes the issue. I did notice audio-sync problems almost right away. Still on firmware 1.1.4 on this new board. If I even get one power-off Vizio is getting a not-as-nice-as-before phone call and I will be DEMANDING a new TV.

**UPDATE 2/7/2012**
Last night when switching inputs to my Blu-Ray player, the tv powered off by itself. When I turned it back on, there was no sound. I messed around with the TV & remote & could not turn the sound up. I powered down again & then I was able to turn the sound back up. Hope this was just a one time thing & not a sign of things to come!

1) I owned my first unit for 80 days, 10 days before store return expired [-current replacement unit with 51 serial 1 week-]
2) I purchased my deader at Costco right after they came in [-New replacement unit from BestBuy-]
3) This was my first Vizio E601-A3 unit [-The October purchase black screen-]
4) What happened: I experienced Lip-sync issues right from the start (was really pissing me off) on the 80th day the sound stayed but picture disappeared.
5) I didn't talk to anyone about the black screen, just put it in the saved box (save all boxes 6 months at least) and took it back because i was inside the 90 day return limit.
6) I did buy another Visio E601-A3: First tried LG and Sharp direct competitors and returned both for various reasons. Very happy with the new E601 [- let it break in 100hrs -]
7) Vizio black screen unit serial? It was pretty soon after launch so i guess fairly low but dont remember for sure.-. New serial is 51 firmware 1.1.4
8) Average hrs per day on the deader was ~4-5, same on the new one.

Hope this helps anyone, looking at the tracker thread data, it seems to bear out the credo "let the first couple of production runs complete before you buy any new technology"

Lets take a look at all the serial numbers as of 1.19.13. Please keep in mind there were a few that returned black screen units and did not know the serial # of the defective unit so this will potentially skew the results. However they did report the # of the new set.
02 1 (this was the serial of NEW CIRCUIT BOARDS after a repair - never seen a production line with 02)
38 2
39 1
40 5 with 4 BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH - BSOD
42 3 with 1 BOSD
43 3
44 2 with 1 BSOD
45 4 with 1 BOSD
46 8 most reported serial number
47 2
48 2
49 6
50 1
51 3
60 (I do not believe this is accurate....I have never seen a 60 reported before)
1) Purchased November 5
2) BJs wholesale (like COSTCO)
3) 1st Vizio
4) Firmware would never update and stayed on 1.0.1 even though Vizio showed updates to my TV. On Jan 7 (after repair) the screen went black.
5) Repair replaced main board for firmware issue but it shipped with 1.1.4 so i never confirmed if fixed. Replacement for black screen issue.
6) Replaced by Vizio 1/17
7) Original SN was 38. Replacement SN is 01. This looks like the 1st 01 on the thread but it is correct.
8) We watch around 6 hrs per day.
I have the 70" so don't want to pollute your numbers but fwiw my sn is 45, purchased from Amazon on Black Friday, delivered a week later, fine since then knock on wood.
1) 11/25/2012
2) walmart
3) 1st Vizio
4) noticed lip sync issue after a couple days, switched to l-PCM helped a little but still bad
on some channels.
5) still have same tv waiting for firmware update.
6) no
7) 43
8) 5-6 hours

Hi,

I'm a new member. I was Googling for problems with Visio E601i-A3 and landed here. I'd like to respond to this thread as I've had two of these TV's die the black screen way. I just had the second die the same way—no picture just sound.

1) How long have you owned this unit?
2) Where you purchased?
3) Is this your first Vizio E601-A3 unit?
4) List what happened and the time frame it took since you turned on this unit?
5) Was your unit repaired or replacement?
6) Did you buy another Vizio E601-A3?
7) What are the FIRST TWO NUMBERS OF YOUR VIZIO SERIAL NUMBER?
8) Average hours used per day?

1) First one-six weeks Oct 17-Nov 25, second one-six weeks Nov 25 Jan 17.
2) Costco—both units
3) First and second were both E601i-A3.
4) First one was fine for six weeks. Then the picture went black, but sound worked. I called Visio, and we tried a reset—no luck. I returned it to Costco, got another one. Second one same as the first, six weeks great then picture went black. Returning it today.
5) replaced both
6) Bought a second, but now I'm looking elsewhere.
7) first one I don’t know, but second one is 46.
8) 9-10 hrs a day, 7 days a week.
