3) 1st Vizio
4) Firmware would never update and stayed on 1.0.1 even though Vizio showed updates to my TV. On Jan 7 (after repair) the screen went black.
5) Repair replaced main board for firmware issue but it shipped with 1.1.4 so i never confirmed if fixed. Replacement for black screen issue.
6) Replaced by Vizio 1/17
7) Original SN was 38. Replacement SN is 01. This looks like the 1st 01 on the thread but it is correct.
8) We watch around 6 hrs per day.

Thanks for the info.....the FW when you get the TV should be 1.1.3 then usually within 24-48hrs it will update to 1.1.4......it looks like you started with 1.1.4 which FW's are usually all inclusive of the previous versions. When you had your motherboard replaced then it gave you a 01 number. Which is NOT a true production serial. Please keep us up to date on your experience.

1) How long have you owned this unit?
2) Where you purchased?
3) Is this your first Vizio E601-A3 unit?
4) List what happened and the time frame it took since you turned on this unit?
5) Was your unit repaired or replacement?
6) Did you buy another Vizio E601-A3?
7) What are the FIRST TWO NUMBERS OF YOUR VIZIO SERIAL NUMBER?
8) Average hours used per day?

1) First one-six weeks Oct 17-Nov 25, second one-six weeks Nov 25 Jan 17.
2) Costco—both units
3) First and second were both E601i-A3.
4) First one was fine for six weeks. Then the picture went black, but sound worked. I called Visio, and we tried a reset—no luck. I returned it to Costco, got another one. Second one same as the first, six weeks great then picture went black. Returning it today.
5) replaced both
6) Bought a second, but now I'm looking elsewhere.
7) first one I don’t know, but second one is 46.
8) 9-10 hrs a day, 7 days a week.

Welcome.....thanks for sharing. This is going to be an eye opener because my TV is 46. There has never been reported a BSOD on the 46 serial number. There were 8 serial numbers reported to be 46 in my analysis. So it will be interesting to watch what happens in 6 weeks with these 46 serial numbers. It is nice to know that Costco has a 90 day return policy so those people at protected. Make sure you get the HIGHEST serial number from Costco that you can. You should be able to quickly look on the side of the box since they are all lined up. I wish you knew the first serial.

ALERT

Anyone that reported to have serial number 46 please make a note when your 6 weeks are up since you first turned on the TV. The most reported working serial number 46 has a BSOD from Costco as reported above. I am curious to see what will happen.

My 6 weeks will be up Feb 18th.

just to clarify-the motherboard was replaced on the original tv but that tv went black. The entire tv was replaced and the SN on the new one is 01.

Also- my firmware was 1.0.1 on the original tv until the repair replaced the motherboard which was 1.1.4. I know because I checked it everyday and also had to send Vizio support a picture.

4. N/A
5. No issues other than lip sync.

*Note* The firmware updated to 1.1.5 today and completely fixed the lip sync issues. Other than the lip sync, I've had no issues with the TV at all.

4) Everything was fine with no real lip sync issues. BSOD 2 hours after getting the 1.1.5 update today.
5) Vizio is sending a new one to me and will take back the old one.
6) Waiting on replacement
7) Current TV is a 44.

So I guess that adds another BSOD to the 44's frown.gif

Lets take a look at all the serial numbers as of 1.20.13. Please keep in mind there were a few that returned black screen units and did not know the serial # of the defective unit so this will potentially skew the results. However they did report the # of the new set. BSOD = BLACK SCREENS OF DEATH eek.gif
01 1 (this was a production serial)
02 1 (this was the serial of NEW CIRCUIT BOARDS after a repair - never seen a production line with 02)
38 3 with 1 BOSD
39 1
40 5 with 4 BSOD
41 1
42 3 with 1 BOSD
43 4
44 3 with 2 BSOD
45 4 with 1 BOSD
46 9 with 1 BSOD (most reported serial number)
47 2
48 2
49 6
50 2
51 3
60 (I do not believe this is accurate....I have never seen a 60 reported before)

would say maybe 200-300 hours of operation since I owned it.

6. Did not buy a new one

I assume the picture i sent showing 1.0.1 to Vizio is why support sent a repairman originally even though the tv was working perfectly at the time (except i wasn't getting 1.1.4). The tv sn was 38. One other interesting bit of info i just remembered is that Vizio sent the repairman a main circuit board and a power board even though i wasn't having any power issues. The repair guy noticed the tv powerd on fine and never switched that part out. I can only assume that vizio knew my serial number was prone to BSOD and its related to the power board. Of course a couple of weeks later i got the BSOD and Vizio decide to replace the set.

My SN is a 44. Bought it Thanksgiving 2012. Only issue I've had is the lip sync issue. Got firmware update 1.1.5 today and it seems to have fixed the sync issue so far.
