Sony KDL55EX645 connection to 5Ghz network

Hi,

I'm trying to connect my TV to my home wifi network on the 5Ghz network of my dual band router (Asus N56U), but the TV cannot see the 5Ghz network. I have no problems connecting to the 2.4Ghz network, but I can't stream HD movies...

Does anybody know if there is a limitation connecting to 5Ghz network?

Unfortunately, you're right. Checked with Sony support, and the built in network is 2.4 only (strange for a TV that supposed to stream HD content). It is possible to buy a dongle that supports 5Ghz.

I'm not sure what the reason is, but it takes a very long time for my TV to load web content, although my PCs don't have that problem.

A quick update: the problem was not with the 2.4 network, but with the connection between the TV and the router. After some research I've found out that Sony TV have some problems connecting to routers with WPA2 encryption. Changed the encryption to WPA, and it is all good. The TV is responsive, Netflix plays HD, and the birds are singing in the sky.
