Looking for advice on a front stage

I have been shopping for a new front stage for a while now and I just saw the Energy V5.2C Center channel go on sale. For all 3 it would cost me $510, which is about my budget. I am also stuck with bookshelfs due to space issues but the area is mainly used for movies anyways.

I currently have Infinity Primus P153s as as my rear speakers and a Klipsch RW-12D as my sub. I hear the Energys are bright so I wonder if they wouldn't compliment my neutral infinity speakers very well.

Basically, I am just wondering if I should look for something else or pull the trigger on this deal.

Update:
Ok, I have made some adjustments and I have plenty of room for some floor standing speakers and my budget is now $650 for fronts and a center. I would appreciate any help you guys could offer, especially with the newegg deals going on.

I would suggest that you consider the Cambridge Audio S30 speakers and S50 center speaker, which will run you a total of $420.

They are very good-sounding speakers; much nicer than any others you can get for that price IMO.

They are also quite compact for what they can do; strong performance and good sound in a relatively small package.

Do you really think they will be better the the Energy's? The room I am in is also rather large; do you think the S30s will be able to handle it better than the V5.2s?

Personally, I do not like the sound of the Energy speakers at all.

I would actually like to see you get the Wharfedale Diamond 10.1 speakers, which are $350; they are excellent speakers and much more appropriate for your room.

The matching center speaker, the 10CC, costs $249, so we are talking $600 total.

If you could stretch your budget that much, I think you would be delighted with the way they sound.

I could do $600, I'm in no hurry so that leaves me more time to save a bit more. Do you think the Wharefdales would pair well with my rear infinitys?

....

Just curious: Where did you hear the Energy speakers? I never see them around any dealers in SoCal.

Perhaps the Ascend factory had a few lying around the demo room. rolleyes.gif

Anyone else have any suggestions in the $500 range?

3.0 package is $499, I have the 5.0 package running with the klipsch rw-12d sub and they sound great for music and movies.

Are you actually placing these speakers on a shelf/cabinet?

I have not heard the V5.2C, but I do have the V5.1 bookshelves and just got rid of the S30s. The V5.1s are a step up in class from the S30s, and I would imagine the V5.2c would be even better. I also have the Energy VS Surrounds and have been really impressed with them, too. I would think you'd have a hard time finding a better front soundstage than three V5.2C for $510.

I believe the V5.2Cs would probably be better for me than the S30s but have you heard the Wharefedale Diamonds? I have been looking at them and the reviews are great. The main complaint I read about the energy's are the bright sound. The Diamonds seem to be more neutral sounding so I am guessing they may sound better with my Rear Infinitys.

I have not heard the Wharfedale Diamonds.

The Energy Veritas series often does get described as bright because they are often being compared to the Energy RC series which is slightly warmer and more laid back, the Veritas generally being considered a slightly better speaker line. I have some of the RC speakers, and I prefer the Veritas because of the slight bit of extra detail they offer over the RCs.

Just glanced through this thread. Worldwide Stereo usually has some good deals on Energy. I've purchased quite a few items from them and are excellent to deal with. I always talk to Ira. http://www.wwstereo.com/Energy
They had a discount code a week or so ago on top of the sale prices so maybe you can do better than the link I gave you. My son has the Pioneer Towers and Horizontal center in his bedroom and it sound great. I would take a look at the Pioneers also.

Now that you can fit floorstanders, you have an amazing deal for under your budget. These speakers are super cheap for the simple reason that nobody will buy them due to the color scheme. They're almost selling at cost for $360pr right now

They're $800pr in black, and compete well in that price category. The matching center

I think I can actually make the white work. I take it that the Boston's are the better speaker (great reviews) but do you guys think they will be better than the wharfedale diamond 10.1 + cs setup for home theater? I'm leaning towards the Boston's unless someone can confirm otherwise.
