Thanks. I wasn't in a big hurry until dropping the drivers in. Now I can't wait to get this thing fired up. smile.gif

I'm taking Saturday off so hopefully I can have these painted and ready to test drive by Saturday evening.

Thanks. I originally was just planning on a double baffle without countersinking the drivers; but decided on adding one additional baffle for strength, and because it looks better (even though no one will ever see it). smile.gif

Besides, when you're already pushing 300 lbs per cab unloaded, what's another 30 lbs. biggrin.gif

Finished up all the round overs tonight. Applied a layer of bondo over where the third baffle laid over the other two so it's a perfect match. Painted the area where the woofers will sit. I won't be using Duratex inside these as I want a sure seal between the drivers and the cab. Yes, I jumped the gun a little on the stuffing lol. I got tired of walking around the boxes.

First coat of Duratex down. I keep hearing about how long this stuff goes for so I only grabbed a gallon. By the time I hit both of these with a couple coats and my friends 15" cab I'm building, I'll be down to the end. I guess most guys aren't coating 5' tall cabs, lol.

Well I think I'm finally on the home stretch.

Three coats of Duratex. I really like this stuff. Wish I would have found out about it earlier. I could think of a lot of uses for this stuff. I didn't get it laid down 100% perfect, but it's very close and won't matter regardless being behind my screen.




Holy wiring batman. Wiring for a final load of 6 ohms was a mess. Connections everywhere, lol.


I like these terminals a lot better than the cups I've used in the past. Pretty slick. Set them 3/4" apart so my dual banana will plug right in.


Only thing left to do is solder the terminals, and drill and mount the drivers. smile.gif Oh, and lug these behemoths into their final resting place, and bolt them down. And remove the sheetrock I just put up so I can run more wiring from my equipment rack to the theater room.

Depends on the frequency you are testing at. DC resistance is as follows per woofer:

D4 Series 6.7 Ohms
D4 Parallel 1.675 Ohms
D2 Series 3.5 Ohms
D2 Parallel 0.875 Ohms

Make sure you test your DMM's leads and measure/note their resistance as well. I may have missed it in the thread but how do you have your woofers wired up? And are they D2 or D4?

I noted their resistance and it was not much; .02 if I remember correctly.

They are D4's. Voice coils are wired in parallel and drivers are wired in series. I was just curious more than anything, as I'd be happy with the lower impedance. I planned on 6 ohm and even though .5 ohm is not much, I'll take all the extra power I can get. biggrin.gif

Well my back isn't liking me too much tonight. Got the drivers mounted and the cabs drug into position. The cabs went from heavy to holy hell that weighs a lot after installing the drivers. Just standing them up by myself took an act of congress, lol. I'm sure not looking forward to hoisting these things up on my stage tomorrow.

Cab only. I wasn't thinking when I installed the screws. Only square drive ones I had laying around were bronze colored. Hopefully they don't cause any issues behind the screen or I guess it's sharpie time. smile.gif


Cab next to my Axioms for size reference. Those things look tiny. biggrin.gif

That's the plan. I'm hoping by late tomorrow night I can sit down and try out some familiar SACD/DVDA's. I have to get the EP4000's wired up and remove about 6 panels of sheetrock I just put up to drill and run new wires to the stage, but after that it should be go time. smile.gif

The only issue I see after listening to them is; I'm going to have to upgrade my front stage to something better. I see a SEOS build in the near future. biggrin.gif

Did you have an LFE system previous to this? Also, were you happy with the overall impact of the speakers you have in place without an LFE?
