Any Canadians had a Rythmik FV15HP shipped to them?

I've been flip-flopping back and forth between an SVS SB13 Ultra and a Rythmik FV15HP for a a couple of weeks now for my first dedicated subwoofer purchase. My room is a 2nd floor bonus room, approx 3000 cubic foot that is open at the back to the rest of the house (ie not a dedicated basement theatre room)

SB13U
Pros:
- about $200 cheaper than the Rythmik with shipping factored in
- looks great (aka extremely high WAF)
- 5 yr warrant

Cons:
- not as much output

FV15HP
Pros:
- output, output, output

Cons:
- big
- would need to be shipped to canada (shipping, import taxes etc)

I do believe I've settled on the Rythmik for the most part however the whole 'has to ship to Canada' angle is worrisome. Anyone fellow Canucks had this bad boy shipped to them? I presume the packaging is super robust so I'm not too worried about that (much), however I am somewhat concerned about potential duty charges which if applied would *really* increase the price difference between the two. However Im not sure if there would even be duty charges as its my understanding the subwoofer is manufactured in the good ol US of A (huzzah for NAFTA/Free Trade?)

Anyone Canadian Rythmik owners able to share info/their experiences?

TIA!

Jon do you live close to the border at all? You shouldn't be charged any duties, just the tax.

Jon you might want to have a look at some of the Funk Audio subs too. They're made in BC and are actually cheaper for Canadian customer then US ones.

Funk sure makes some gorgeous subs with some beautiful finishes. Wish I had the budget for one of their subs.

I'm in Edmonton so border access isn't really feasible.

Funk was definitely under consideration but in the end there just wasn't enough information out there in terms of reviews/shootouts/comparisons etc where I felt I could make an informed opinion.

Are you looking at buying a SB13-Ultra from sonicboomaudio? If yes I'm guessing you're looking at the $1599 plus $100 for shipping, so right around $1700. A 18.0C from Funk Audio should have more output then a SB13-Ultra. You should email Nathan from Funk, he's really good to deal with. They do make top notch stuff. I believe they have some reviews in the works and are going to be taking part in some GTG events from what I've heard. Even a 15.3 dual 15" driver sub would be pretty awesome from them.

The SB13-Ultra is a great looking sub, but IMO isn't really fair to compare it to a FV15HP because just like you mentioned; output output output. That duty should be left up to the PB13-Ultra. Of course pretty much everything from Funk Audio will have high WAF.
