hookiing up subwoofer

Currently I am using the Speaker Level connections on the sub to hook up my Promonitor 800s. This is what is recommended in the manual. In addition to that, can I run a subwoofer cable from the receiver to the sub's LFE In port for the LFE signals? Or is this unnecessary? The configuration would be Speaker: Large and Subwoofer: Yes.

Would this not bypass the sub's Low Pass crossover and perhaps bass management will now be handled by the receiver? (I mean how else can the LFE signals get across the subwoofer cable)

I don't think you need the cable.

Do you mean you're connecting the L/R speaker outputs on the receiver to the sub and then you're wiring the 800s into the mains outputs of the sub? If so, that's the wrong way to do it. Wire the 800s to the L/R speaker outputs of the receiver, send the LFE output to the sub.
