Your thoughts on Elan D1650 replacement

I've got an Elan 16 channel amp that was installed by an A/V professional 3 years ago. It just lost two channels (11-12 and 13-14 show "error" on the display). By swapping wires for sources and speakers I isolated the problem to the amp. Also, a full reset did not cure the problem. Luckily I was able to wire around the problem for the moment. However, I'm guessing that I'll need to replace the unit sometime in the not too distant future. Do you have suggestions?

Dayton or HTD 12-channel amp and another 4-channel or pair of 2-channel amps is probably the most economical replacement. 12 seems to be the 'normal' these days for multi-room amps. The upshot of using a separate 2-channel for one or two zones is the ability to assign more power to your "big" zones if that helps.

Don't know much about the Elan amp other than what's on the sales sheet, so if there's more to it, my suggestions may not be valid. As long as it's just an amp with triggers or auto-on/off, you should be fine.

Thanks!

A 12-channel would do the job since I'm now using only 12 on the Elan. Not using any special features at this time, although having 3 channels on a single bus was more convenient.
