55" Viera TV stand advice and direction please

Hello-

Am in process of picking out a tv stand for my new 55" Panasonic Viera ST50. Will be in a small-medium sized living room with multiple xbox 360's and other components. Possibly soundbar and subwoofer in near future.

Do NOT want to drill into wall for true wall mount, so considering a tv stand with built in mount....
There is a lot of light from front bay windows and am concerned with, so TILTup/down, L/R would be nice.
Not sure if there is a general consensus, as far as mounting height goes, PLEASE ADVISE. Right now the plasma is sitting in basement and I noticed on the shorter temp table it's sitting on, the picture is washed out when standing or at all above it...

Can you guys recommend some nice looking stands with and without built-in mounts. Possibly discuss issues I may run into with cheaper or poorly designed mounts, as far as adjustability goes?
Would also be nice to get something that may hide some of these big bulky xbox 360 powerbricks and all of the cables, ect....
Don't really want to spend more than $300-400

Don't know if replying to own thread a no no, but anyone jave any advise yet? Maybe sarurday traffic will get more attention..?

* would also consider wall mounting, now, but would still prefer a 'hybrid' built in mount - but concerned it may not have clearence for future soundbar.?
