Even if I don't trust a TV coming from companies like Hisense and Westinghouse, the prices on real world sized sets are quite encouraging because I remember the $20,000 price tag that some makers were mentioning just a few short months ago. Prices like $2000 to $6000 are much closer to the mortal realm. I bought a 55" 1080p passive 3D LED set just before Christmas 2011, so I will be able to rock that for a few years while prices drop on the 4K sets. By then, I will be itching to upgrade and it's a great excuse to get a bigger set.
