4K/UHD TVs at CES 2013 - Page 3

Even if I don't trust a TV coming from companies like Hisense and Westinghouse, the prices on real world sized sets are quite encouraging because I remember the $20,000 price tag that some makers were mentioning just a few short months ago. Prices like $2000 to $6000 are much closer to the mortal realm. I bought a 55" 1080p passive 3D LED set just before Christmas 2011, so I will be able to rock that for a few years while prices drop on the 4K sets. By then, I will be itching to upgrade and it's a great excuse to get a bigger set. smile.gif

Hisense
65-incher will be $6000,
58-inch model will be $4000, and the
50-incher will be $2000

Westinghouse
$4000 for the 65-incher,
$3000 for the 55-inch model, and
$2500 for the 50-inch version.


Neither of these companies are known for their higher quality, reliable products but depending on what they bring to market this could fit a sweet spot since they appear to be pricing their (entry level) UHD / 4K sets at a price similar to what the big guys are pricing their higher end 1080P panels for. Let's not forget that the big guys don't have anything in this size range for UHD / 4K either.


So WHEN are Hisense or Westinghouse going to ship, or even give more details. It's been 3 months since since CES and not a (further) peep from either of them.

I replied to your other thread, but if you want quality and reliability, then you should look into the smaller Sony UHD panels, the 55/65" X900A. No word on pricing yet....
By convention, they should perform much better than the budget 4K panels from the off-brands.
