Panny 55UT50 vs LG 55LS4600?

Need help with deciding on what's the best for my space. 55" is the ideal size screen for the viewing distance and I needed to be under $1k so both of these sets fit that bill. Most viewing is done in the evening EXCEPT for football which is a big event here. Room is bright with a large picture window with western exposure. Our current set is 50" Plasma 720 that has served is well for many years but its time for something a bit bigger. Thanx.

If you were already happy with your plasma I would go with the UT50 or if possible step up to a ST50 which does a little better in a bright room. The picture quality on the lower end LED tv's is inferior to the those Panasonic Plasma's.

Thanx.....I've been leaning towards the Panny after doing further research.

Now It seems that someone has deemed a larger set, the LG 60 550 as an option.
This is driving me nuts!!!

People who make blanket statements are laughable. Your advice in the other thread to "buy a panasonic next time" was oh so helpful as well. Got a little drunk last night and started posting maybe?

To the OP: Check out the sets you are interested in by going to the store and viewing them if possible. There is NO doubt Panasonic and Samsung are the top 2 brands. I would never argue that point, BUT its not like LG is some sort of dog with fleas. I have the PM6700 60" and it was almost $700.00 less than the ST Panny at the time. The LG colours are VERY good and I can see the folds and creases of a black suit in shadow, and The Dark Knight looks fantastic on my set. I did spend a few hours tweaking things, but THX mode out of box wasnt bad at all.

It comes down to what looks best to YOU, value for money, etc etc..

Thanx to those that responded. I went out and looked at some sets in non big box environments and the Panny 55UT50 was the clear winner in my price range. Too much motion blur from comparably priced LEDs and as far as Plasma's, the Panny blacks were better than Samsungs and LGs.
