Glad this is posted now. Really looking forward to building one of these. My other (non speaker) projects are coming along and I hope to make saw dust this summer. I have a Crown XLS 1000 sitting around with nothing to do. It is becoming impatient.

Remember, this is an approximation - the fold actually has one more taper than the hornresp model can handle. I had to do final checks in akabak for this one.

Anyhow - the hornresp export is attached at the bottom of post 1.

Damn by the looks of the 15hz db's people are throwing around I may have to make 4 of these instead and use my f20 under the bed for late night movies...

Got mine mostly assembled, just waiting on paint before I fire it up. (sorry for the cellphone pictures)

Here is a closeup of the bracing I used (i can give dimensions if anyone wants them..)

Here is a couple pictures of an F-20 my buddy made next to the lilwrecker just to give an idea of size lol.

Pretty cool stuff, Mike!!!

I've got a CVX 15 that I'd love to drop into a small horn enclosure for my 4Runner, but we all know the CVX likes a lot of space. So I probably wouldn't get much.
I've got it in a 4 cu.ft. 32hz enclosure though and it pounds pretty good with just 300W of the 2000W it's capable of taking.

Yeah, they need their room.

Thus far, my smallest CVX tapped horns are still right at 20 cubic feet.
I've tried to go smaller, there is just not enough horn for the woofer.

Some nice wood veneer, some cleaverly disguising molding and one of these:

On the mouth of the horn and you could have a nice subwoofer that looks like nothing more than an entertainment center with some heater vents...they would be blowing alot of air too!

I buy my car stereo stuff from sonic electronix, online car stereo and amazon. Onlinecarstereo has the CVX15 for alot less than sonic.

Well, when you say it like that...

Comparing my measurements, it looks to be more like 4 to 5 Hz of additional extension, which is actually half an octave.

Also - it makes about 5 dB more output.

Lol, sorry mike, I didn't mean for it to sound that way...

Dropping the corner by half an octave is no small feat by any means.

When I compared the graphs on my iPhone it appeared that they had similar max output.

I'm currently running a single f-20 with the DVC Dayton, I was going to build a twin for it, but it looks like I will be building a pair of these since I have the room, and the f20 will be retired to garage/poolside duty.

I was referring to the 15. That was the LMS 5400, the 18 is the LMS Ultra 5400

This horn is too small for an 18.

Awww great. Just as I start a whacky build of my own, you tell a guy who happens to own two of the original 15" 5400's that they would work great in these horns......now I have a project backlog!

I never forgot that you had em.... They are quite the driver. They actually work pretty well in most of my bigger tapped horns.

By all means - carry on with your current build, then measure the daylights out of it - I wanna see the results!
