I currently have a living room that is pre wired and I am looking to upgrade the receiver.
(I am below novice in the A/V world so please forgive me if I make an ignorant statement)
Budget is my main focus.. Best bang for the buck. Max budget for Receiver would be $600.00 optimum budget below $400.00. Am considering connecting an HTPC to the receiver.
Here is my current setup:
Components are in my Utility room in a cabinet where all the wiring is terminated.
5.1 surround (the sub has to be powered)
TV hanging on Wall
5 RG6 for Component video and audio
1 RG6 for direct cable connection (homerun from cable outside)
1 Cat 5
1 speaker wire for Center channel
1 4 wire for IR extender
I currently have NS-R5 100 isignia so pretty much anything is an upgrade.
The run from the Equipment cabinet to the TV is about 55' of wire
I would rather not run new wire but I would if there was some compelling reason.
I have my DVR in the cabinet and my Router is located there as well.
I have my bed room A/V run to the same cabinent but am not currently using that setup
I have two Patio speakers also run to the cabinet that I do use. (connected to an AirPlay device and the Insignia)
Goals
1. Update Receiver
2. Make control easier through remote consolidation or Smartphone control
3. Have better surround sound
I am not needing the latest greatest.
Since the receiver is away from the room I guess I will have to use an extender wire for any auto audio set up.
I appreciate all suggestions.
