OP, what is your budget? Is it $50-100 or $500, or $1000?

There are lots of options at various price ranges, but if you are looking at $50 used subs (nothing wrong with that) there is not much sense in mentioning subs in the $300-600 price range.

Also, how large is your room? Length x width x height? Is is open to other rooms?

Could be problem with system integration, sub placement and EQ as much as the sub itself...
