Picture Distortion at Sides

Just got my new 60st50. When watching TV, on shots that move or pan left or right, the picture distorts pretty bad about 1 inch from the left or right edge; kind of the same effect as the sides of a fishbowl, where things look like there being stretched. But static calibration test patterns are completely straight and true, and I don't notice it on true HD content. Anyone else notice this?

Stretching SD video to 16x9 causes this effect. Take a look at something with scrolling words across the top or bottom and you'll notice it more.

So, short answer, every thing is normal.

This is the effect you see when viewing in "just" mode. I use it a lot when watching 4:3 programs to fill the screen. I do notice more "fish bowl" effect on my 55gt50 than my older 50g25 though.

Some HD programming will show this effect in "full" mode also. My wife watches a lot of HGTV and I can see it sometimes when they show an older program that was probably originally shot in 4:3 and they're stretching the image for 16:9.

Thanks for the prompt replies. Just to clarify, what I am seeing is NOT the typical stretch look of a 4:3 pic to a 16:9 ratio, where the entire pic is stretched consistently to fill the screen. What I am seeing is 90% of the screen looking normal, until the moving object get's near the edge and then it stretches quickly before going completely off the screen. I think we're talking about the same thing, just want to be sure.
