Interchangeability of Acoustimass 6 series 2 and Acoustimass 6 series 3 module

Several years ago I picked up a Acoustimass 6 series 2 and a series 3 at Best Buy. I put the 2 in the family room and 3 in my home office. As our family has changed I no longer retreat to my home office:) and would like the greater base that that the series 3 provides in the family room. Can I swap out the series 2 module for the series 3 module?

I don't want to switch out the entire systems as I'v got wires run under the carpet and I like the speaker locations.

I decided to email Bose and got a response that said they would be glad to upgrade the series 2 for a discounted price and not much else. So much for product support and help.

I went ahead and swapped out the modules and they both work fine. The RCA speaker plugs' "holders" from the series 2 needed to be trimmed to fit the series 3 module but they did work.

I've never been a big Bose fan but I was really disappointed in their lack of customer service.

Agreed. I would have never bought the Bose except they were on super cheap clearance at the time. My budget is not as constrained now days (translate....kids are out of college and gainfully employed) so I'll start looking to upgrade.
