I’ll have to do some more testing, but for now the 1% patters are my new favourites.
Keep up the good work ndaa75, and thanks for your efforts.

Excellent - can i ask what software and metre combo you used?

Calibrated THX mode in default with the 1% pattern, was pretty decent at 2.16 gamma...I got 2.2 in Custom.

Thanks ndaa for all your time and effort making these disc's,I really enjoyed the 1% ones...smile.gif

Colour Checker disk needs redoing for the 1% windows, the first few patterns are incorrect - i'll do that a bit later.
I performed a full calibration this morning with these on my VT30 and I can say that this is certainly the best patterns to use for this set - a straight line gamma (apart from 95% stim) and a consistent grayscale. Also appears to have produced much more natural looking colours.
I'll have another go a little later, in the meantime i'll redo the colour checker and repost.

Quality looks great thus far, still observing more content....I agree with you that on the 2011 GT/VT 30 series require the smallest patterns on these sets.

Post 29 now updated with the correct Colour Checker patterns.

I was going to post my Calman report from this afternoon which shows improvements from this morning, especially since I reworked the colour checker section, however I did not save it and therefore cannot post it.

What I can report is;

1. Grayscale, improved across the board, resorted to 2 pointed 85 and 35 stimulus to try to iron out some of the 5% humps which worked and also kept in check both 85 and 95 grayscale blue and red deviations, used remaining 10pt to flatten the line. Achieved a deltaE u'v' of less than 0.6 from 20 to 100 using 5% steps, under 1.2 from 2-15.

2. Gamma, still a small 2.13 hump at 5% which I cannot get rid of - other than that a pretty linear 2.2 all the way to 100.

3. CMS 75 stim, 100 saturation - Pretty straight forward, Green needed a big saturation increase to bring it in line though (+16), all Luninance values spot on.

4. Saturation - fine tuned the saturation points at 25% intervals, managed to obtain a DeltaE 2000 of less than 1 across all ranges, 25-50 range less than 0.5 dE 2000.

5. Colour Checker - averaged 0.8 deltaE 2000 across the board, luminance spot on.

Result amazing picture, tested using Avatar, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Dark Knight and Australia Blu Rays. No posterizartion, no contouring, colour is finally amazing, no rinigng with magenta and / or green tints, whites finally white.

Well happy.

Used i1D3 profiled from an i1pro.

Ran into some problems with the chapters for the 1% so will be again reauthoring (problem with getting it to display for a specific amount of time, causing chapter selection issues).

Can you make mp4 version for HTPC? I would like to try 1% and 6.5% size on my ST50

Yes, will try to do over the next day or so.

Hey ndaa, could you do the 6.5% with the percentage per window and chapter like you did the 1%...Its good to have this disc in the collection as I will probably try another go at the 6.5% just for gamma purposes...

Thanks buddy for all your efforts and time.I greatly appreciate it.smile.gif

Hi Peter

I'll be reauthoring both the 6.5 and the 4 over the next few days - please just bear with me.

Apologies for the delay - been really busy a work and havent had the time to add further input into these patterns. I will update as soon as i can but please understand this is very time consuming.

I have designed some of my own 1% APL windows recently, rendered on a 1080p screen shot and i must say the results have literally blown me away compared to 1% and 10% windows.

Running a 10pt without adjustment showed a higher luminance at 10% and 90% with 20 - 80% displaying a much lower gamma. Bringing these into line has given me certainly the best image to date. Been watching Skyfall and Avatar this evening, very pleased with the results. I didnt bother with CMS patterns, just made a disk with 11pt grayscale and 20% intervals, 75% stim for saturation and the colour checking patterns, based on Calman.
Ill upload the patterns tomorrow however as i dont have authoring software it will literally be the relevant sequences which you can burn to disk using img burn.
