great site, as you guys have helped me out before when my panny plasma took a crap on me.

anyways, i have a decent (it works pretty good) home theatre setup, but i know it can sound alot better. ive never fine tuned any audio specs on this ever. everything is flat across the board. it sounds good, but i think (with your help) i can sound fantastic. i work alot of hours, and in my down time i really enjoy movies. below is my theatre set-up

55" panny plasma 55st50
sony 5.1 dts receiver str-de885 (100x5)
PS3 4.3 firmware
sony 3d d/b play s590
front speakers l/r sony ss-mb300h (on stands 2.5' high)
center channel sony ch495h (2' high in tv stand)
rear l/r pioneer s-h052s-k (on stands 4.5' high)
sub cerwin vega 500 watt 12" LW-12

it might not be high end, but it sounds pretty damn good for me, my g/f and friends when they come over.

looking to tweak some things (freq/hz low/mid/high) and maby get it to sound better if possible.

thanks for all your help guys and girls.

This is an ancient piece with very few options.

Please turn to page 19 of

http://www.docs.sony.com/release/STRDE885.pdf

and follow the instructions.

You'll get the most sound quality improvement by addressing your room's acoustics. This short article explains the basics in plain English:

What all settings does your receiver let you set on it?

Are your speakers angled to point toward the center listening position?

Have you done the sub crawl to find the best placement for your subwoofer?

you guys rock. it currently sounds pretty damn good, but i know its lacking some fine tuning. i have an awesome setup in my truck (polk db components front and rear doors, 800 watt amp, pioneer 960mp) and that sound awesome!!!!! crisp clean sound.
