Need help choosing a Digital Media Player... - Page 2

Hi - I've been trying to decide in a medial player, and I ended up trying out the incredisonic MP-150. I know there are better ones out there, but this seems to be generally good enough for my use, and seems to have all of the functionality that I would need. The only issue I'm having is that it cannot play most of my FLV files. I know this is an issue with a lot of media players, and has to do with the way that the FLV file was encoded, but I was wondering if anyone could recommend some other media player that I can expect to be more versatile with FLV files. I've seen some recommendations for the Dune players, but looking at their website, I don't see a mention of FLV in any of their specifications. Are there particlar Dune models that will play FLV files, and would be more versatle than the incredisonic? Any other recommendations?

thank you

I am also in need of some guidance in selecting a media player. I am really only interested in using a player for music. I ripped all of my CDs to FLAC and have been using a Netgear Digital Entertainer Eliite EVA9150 since 2009. It has been great having all of my music on it and not dealing with three 400 disc CD changers that always seemed to breakdown. Now I want a player that can do what my Netgear player does, but without having to turn on my TV to browse and play my music. I discovered the Dune/Zappiti players and it looks like they might be what I'm looking for. My Sony Xperia Tablet Z will be my primary remote of choice. It currently has Android 4.2.2 and is not rooted or modded in any way. I will be using an HDMI connection to my Pioneer Elite SC-27 AVR.

The "must haves" are:

1. Has it's own HDD for storage of all of my music, or one can be added. I don't want to stream from my PC or a NAS.
2. Can be operated from my tablet and PC with a nice UI without turning on the TV.
3. Can play multichannel/high res audio. I have a few DVD-A discs I would like rip and be able to play.
4. Gapless playback of live albums would be great, but my research has shown this to be rare or impossible without ripping an album as a single file.
5. Under $1,000 if possible.
6. The ability to select another song while one is playing so that it would play after the current song finishes without creating a playlist in advance.

As I mentioned, the Dune players seem like the closest to what I want, but look confusing to setup, and I consider myself to have above average tech experience. I have also looked at the Olive players, but they are very expensive and seem to breakdown often. I have been looking and researching all year and there just doesn't seem to be much else out there that has it's own internal storage and can be controlled by an Android tablet.

Any help and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
