Hi everyone,
This is my first post here and I greatly apologize if this is the wrong section for this, I also apologize as I'm sure there's about 1000 of these kinds of threads daily on this site!
Anyway, I'm coming from an old 42" Sony Bravia V-Series I picked up at BJ's about 6 or 7 years ago. For this new TV I ideally want a minimum of 65", and yes, this will be my first truely "big screen" TV
Now I'm not made of money here and I also have to figure in a good stand (with mount) for this to replace my old one.
I've more-or-less narrowed it down to two models, but am open to suggestions;
Panasonic Plasma GT50 65"
OR
Mitsubishi Laservue L75-A94 75"
Yes, there's a ~$800 price difference between the two, and I'm not even considering the VT50 which would fall in the middle price-wise as those handful of extra features just don't seem to "do anything for me", so-to-speak (unless I missed something and the IQ is truely better on the VT?), also the extra 10" helps me to justify the price difference as well (
) . The added size/width/weight for the LV does not bother me in the least (my current computer monitor is a Sony GDM FW-900 so... yea
), my concern is overall IQ, and from what I've read the laservue seems to beat out the highly-worshipped Kuro's of old.
However, I'm just not sure about a DLP, laser or not, as the image/brightness has always seemed off on any/all rear-projections/DLP's I've seen in person (like there's an extra screen or something in front of it, if you know what I mean) with god-awful viewing angles - Is this not a problem for the Laservues? Is the IQ difference between the GT50 and LV even actually noticable? How's the life-span/maintenance of either model?
Lastly, I'm a gamer (PS3, 360, WiiU, PC), and as such will be playing many games on this new TV. I know that burn-in has become virtually a non-issue with Plasma's, but what about the Laservue's? I can't seem to find anything on it.
PS: I just read about the new ZT series from Panasonic, but I've also read that they will be retailing for around 4k... So I'm not sure if it's worth waiting for them and hoping I could find a 65" for under/around 3k... Also, please keep in mind that I probably won't be buying another TV for atleast another 6 years (if not longer).
Thanks!!!
