What is comparable these days to older Paradigm Monitor 7 v3's?

I am thinking of upgrading my older monitor 7 v3 5.1 setup. What would be considered comparable in the same price range from Klipsch,Polk, Precision Acoustics, Infinity, etc. these days? I have been out of the loop for the better part of five years.

Thanks

Just what is your budget? I used to own the Monitor 7 v3. Hate to say it but they were not very good sounding speakers IMHO.

You know what, I agree with you actually. Hence my reason for wanting to upgrade. I thought they did okay back in the day. Truthfully with 2 young kids, our HT setup has been mostly neglected the last couple years. But I have been in the market for a new receiver avr-1713/1913, vsx-1022/1122. Anyways, I spent sometime listening to different speakers today and trying out a vsx-1022 for a short time on my monitor 7's and I really didnt find them very crisp (or bright)! They sound kind of muddy or almost like a blanket has been thrown over them.

So that has got me to looking into a new setup. Budget would be in the 800-1000 (CDN) range for fronts, center and two surrounds. The less the better, as this is low on my hobby list, but want an enjoyable experience! No real desire to go with 7.1 and I cant accommodate it in my living room anyways.

Hopefully that helps. Ideally I am looking for a setup with brighter more crisp response, something a bit more common to horn based tweeter's - but I am open. My current setup is monitor 7 v3's, cc370, klipsch kw-100 sub, adp-170's and mini-monitor 7 vs3 bookshelf's.

You've described them the way I remember them. I really have no idea what is available to you in Canada. Going to Klipsch would be a major shock in the detail dept and may even be too bright for you. Maybe someone with more know in the Canadian market can chime in.

No more opinions?

no opinon I am about to post a similar question. I have 2 pr of 7se mk3 and wanting to know about adding monitor 7 v3 or another 7semk3.

From this thread thinking stick with the 7semk3.

I also have 5semk3 and studio 60 v.3 and fill in the base with several miller kreisel k-9 and k-10s.

-- two listening rooms.

I went for the studio 60's replacing 11semk2 - thinking i would set the benchmark for what i can purchase. The studio 60's are .. to pick a word. tight, controlled, precise. I hear the detail missing from 7semk3. still a pair of 7semk3 with two subs make great computer desk speakers 30" from my ears. you can't listen that close to studio 60s - the pressure.
h
Anyway so yeah reaching for something better - I am waiting for some folks to weigh in and say after the 7semk3 skip to the montor v6 or something.
